The Great Canadian SimCity/CitiesXL gaming thread!

Who has any cities available for sharing? Or who has played CitiesXL here? For me, I played all SimCitys, Societies and 2011 XL. Personally prefer SimCity 2000, 3000 and XL, although its become a bitch to mod Bankers Hall or the Calgary Scotia tower into XL

SimCity IS the reason I got interested in urban planning in the first place. Unfortunately I haven't played SimCity for years. Societies was awful to me and kind of me turned me off to the genre. I intended to go back to SimCity 4, but I never did. I bought Cities XL 2010 and was impressed with the graphics engine but I never gave it enough time, maybe it didn't impress me gameplay wise very much. Perhaps I should have given it more play time.

Oh no you did not just start this thread... I can flood it with content, like opening a can of worms.

Although I don't understand the premise. As "Great Canadian", are we only supposed to show stuff applicable to Canada or just stuff made by Canadian players?

I guess to start off check out my Youtube Channel. I have dozens of high-quality Simcity 4 videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/haljacke...?sort=p&view=u

Here's one to get you started:

Here's a picture a CBD I made:

And here's a mosaic of a cross-section of one of my cities:

Note: I use thousands of additional plugin files not included with the game. They include mods, more buildings and ascetic enhancements.

I think he meant the use of Canadian content in the games. There's already simcity threads in the Urban Art section; http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/forumdisplay.php?f=160

But theres no CANADIAN one! And from the last time I checked, no Canadians have been on the main SSPF page

Same, hated Societies and I played SimCity when I was 6, then got hooked on the genre ever since. Same with transit!

I wish SimCity 5 came out

This guy tried to re-create Edmonton in Simcity 4

http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/top...y-of-edmonton/

unforunately most of the photos seem to be deleted from the thread, and its abandoned.

I too wonder if a Simcity 5 will ever come out.

Is City XL any good?

I quit when I found out CitiesXL had transit route planning (my thing lol), and when SimCity4 kept crashing when I added an LRT mod. Wasn't too happy

Heres a city I made a year ago. I laid out the roads in the CBD similar to that of downtown Hamilton's. Can you find the five Canadian Buildings in this picture?

Here's an overview of the city.

Remember how everyone was joking about Duke Nukem Forever? I doubt Sim City 5 will ever come out, because it's honestly too much of a niche product. EA really isn't interested in anything other than mass-market video games, and they probably don't want to commit the resources needed for this project. Which will be a problem going forward, because it's going to get harder to run older games on new versions of Windows (on a Mac? Good luck with that, sucker!).

Not really.
For me, although it sucks (cant burn my city down), I do get alot more control over transit options

Here's my first attempt at creating the Gardiner Expressway in downtown Toronto.

Can't quite get it all to fit due to fact there's a road under the expressway (double deck) and the lack of el-RHW-6 (a mod) connections available in RHW 5.0.
-Though these issues could get fixed in later releases.

Anyways, hope you enjoyed the pics.

You guys realize there's an entire section dedicated to this stuff?

Also, how is it possible anyone hasn't heard of the new SC game due out next year?
