This is way off-topic, and I apologize. Quickly, the most credible story I've heard is that the original sculpture was taken down and cut into pieces. The one in your photo is supposedly a smaller facsimile.

Thanks, SW. I didn't even notice, when taking this shot, that the scaffolding on Six North Michigan was being removed. I guess it's been there for so long that my mind is programmed to believe it will always be there.

It will be fun to watch this one go up over the summer. The white concrete pump just broke above the surrounding buildings.

west side updates: the scaffolding that was supporting the old facade is almost completely taken down now. maybe a couple unattached beams remaining that might be taken down today.

Also, the first layer of windows is in. I didn't get a chance to study, but they look fine as far as glass goes. They might have been dark or opaque windows with stainless steel borders, but that might be my memory playing tricks on me.

Feel free to take a picture and post it here (i'm looking at you, solarwind )

What's the building with the bricked up gothic windows in the last photo?

The shot was taken at about 11:30am so the sun is still too far east to see real glass detail.

Higly reflective glass tends to disturb me. This project might need it though...who knows.

Thank Bvic for catching that.

and they're on the second row as of 5pm. The glass reminds me a lot of the first couple dark rows of glass on 300 lasalle

Great catch, jstush04. I'll try to stop by tomorrow with my camera if I have time. Hopefully more glass will be installed by then.

The glass looks a bit Block 37-ish. Hopefully, it's just the lighting.

Personally, I think the glass looks really promising so far. It appears to be a pretty sophisticated curtain, especially for a residential building. (SSG with capped, low-profile horizontal mullions, unless I am not seeing it correctly. This is akin to Jahn's Fairbanks project.)

Given the site and height of this tower, I am glad to see that the overall system might live up to its prominence. We'll have to wait for a month or two to begin to judge the overall aesthetic effect, but it's a good start I think.

The high reflectivity might be only for the parking floors... but even if not, I can live with it.
