New plans have been filed with the city for a mixed-used building at 1035 Tchoupitoulas. The site of a proposed super luxury apartment complex with $8,000 two bedrooms, this Warehouse District structure — originally dubbed the Granaio — was unanimously struck down unanimously by City Council half a year ago. As for their latest plans, the group's current proposed project is looking like more of the same, only slightly scaled back.
According to the latest proposal, 1035 Tchoupitoulas would span ten stories with the first two floors used for restaurant space. 19 residential flats are set to occupy the third through eighth floor with the final two floors being reserved for a two-story penthouse, which we can only assume is for Joshua Bruno, President of the Downtown Development Group and Metro-Wide Apartments, who previously stated that he was all set to move into 1035 Tchoup way back when.
As for those proposed overhangs that gave the city so much grief, they're still being proposed at a total of "approximately 926 sq. ft. of enclosed living space." Given the limited 3,600 square feet of the site, the group already has plans for creative expansion so they can rent the most space, possibly for the most money. No word's been made on how ultra- super-luxurious these apartments are supposed to be but Canal Street Beat's got some current renderings to keep you guessing.

I'm just curious if anyone knows the specifics on Granio. Is it just me, or is the developer wasting his time if he didn't change much about the tower that got it voted down last time, particularly the overhanging floor space? Maybe he's hedging his bet that the newer councilmembers will vote in his favor? I think it's a nice project either way.
