Western Australia is doing it under the State Underground Power Program. Some before and after photos here.

[QUOTE=Urbannizer;8446184]Shady Lane Office

From their website.
"We have created a conceptual design for a 68,120 SF office building and 124,260 SF parking garage that sits on 1.6 acres in East Austin, Texas."

I find this to be horribly unfortunate. Hope it's a typo.

Probably a typo. 24k seems realistic for that space, not 124k.

Not sure if I have this right, but seems this residential project has morphed into an office one. I remember the vote two years ago for multi-family/mixed use re-zoning over strenuous neighborhood opposition (e.g. Daniel Llanes), but hadn't heard much since.

It never passed council on all three readings. Some in the area fought it saying "it's a nice junk yard". You can't make this stuff up. NIMBYism cost us big time here. Hundreds of homes and dozens of Big A income restricted Affordable homes.

1409 E 6TH St. a former Lone Star Foodservice warehouse, has been vacant for a couple weeks now and I saw a coring truck there this morning. There was a site plan filed for demolition that was denied It's half the block and right next to Saltillo station so might be another visually interesting mid-rise. Boutique hotel maybe?

The guys at Auto Coat have been telling me for a few years now that their days are numbered. An unnamed developer has bought up the whole block from 5th to 6th/ Navasota to Onion and plans to put up an office building.

Probably the least interesting project on the Eastside. Talk about boring. Hopefully it's at least affordable.

What an update! So much opportunity! East Austin is looking good, though it's a shame the height limits are so severe around the TOD

Images from Towers.

Good infill on a small site at 6th & Chicon. Like to see this level of density further out on corridors like East 5th/6th, Lamar, etc

This was posted again in Wednesday's update. I'm not sure if there were any changes. It's 6 floors.

Eastlake at Tillery

Quote:
Eastlake at Tillery is a new Class A office development comprised of two office buildings and an above ground structured parking garage. The project will be 162,000 SF of leasable space spread across the two buildings. Located in trendy East Austin at the intersection of Cesar Chavez and Tillery Street, Eastlake at Tillery is steps away from restaurants like Grizzelda’s, Jacoby’s and Tillery Kitchen and Bar. The project will feature private tenant patios, showers and abundant outdoor space.
