Calgary and some of the largest Canadian cities are finally available on Google Street view.

Has anyone else noticed that there are a lot of residential alleys that have been included instead of the main road itself? A good number of addresses that I have tried seem to show the back instead of the front.

Surely Google wouldn't intentionally do this? I imagine that the driver has to cut through a bunch of alleys to avoid duplicating routes, but you'd think that they'd be excluded from the final product.

I noticed this as well. Looking SB on 29th Street SW between 19th and 21st Ave, the alley is shown and not the street itself.

Lots of pics taken during Stampede. Also my lawn looks terrible, but I'm still over the moon about this. When you have friends/family who've never been within 1000 miles of your home- we're talking people who don't travel and don't even have passports- this is an utter blessing for me. And I can't be alone.

I painted my porch this summer, well after the Google car had passed by. At least now I have a "before" shot for comparison.

I like the Streetview feature. My uncle in England can be seen sitting on the bumper of his van talking to a neighbour... His face is blurred, but you can still tell it is him!

The adresses in he NW are off by about 50 numbers for some reason. Also, the resolution is incredible compared to some of the first cities to get it. You can see right through my house...

Same with addresses in my neighbourhood. They're off by about 20.

I'm glad that the image of my house has the new paint job we did in the spring...

Very nice. The even got all of Cochrane done. Looks to be mid June if I recall, as the hole they dug in front of my house in June is still gravel and they paved in late June

I must have mowed my lawn the day before they came around to my house. The lawn is freshly cut.

Is there some secret to getting Streetview to work? I used to be able to go to Google, then click maps, go to a city and see the blue lines for streetview. I don't see the blue lines and don't have an option to turn it on anymore Both explorer and firefox, same thing.

I just drag the little orange guy (near the zoom bar) and drop him on the road. The blue lines should appear.

Nice to see Calgary and other Canadian cities finally on there. The resolution is much better than the earlier American cities. I can see the furniture through my front window.
I'd love it if they re-did the American cities to the same resolution.

My street (Tuscany) looks to have been done in late winter. There is still snow at COP, snow in some places in yards, no leaves on the trees, and the grass is brown. The neighbor's front yard is also not sodded yet but I can't recall if he did that this spring or last spring (2008) so I can't date the picture by year. They also managed to catch my other neighbor when he was home, which isn't very often. I haven't seen him since jsut after Christmas.

The license plate number on my brother's vehicle is clearly visible - looks like they missed rubbing it out...

They hit the deep SW pretty recently. Bridlewood was in the last 3-4 weeks max.
