I guess I'm going to lose my little sliver view of the TD Tower.

B2Gold Signs on at Vancouver Centre II
Vancouver, BC; April 10, 2019 – GWL Realty Advisors announced today that B2Gold Corp is the latest company to choose Vancouver Centre II (VCII) as its new headquarters. B2Gold will occupy 37,000 square feet across three floors in the office tower. With this announcement, VCII is now 38 per cent leased.

Headquartered in Vancouver, B2Gold Corp. is one of the world’s largest gold producers. They’ve selected one of VCII’s premiere spaces, which includes an exclusive portion of the building’s Skyline Rooftop Deck.

Site note, but is the Scotia Tower above the viewcones? Because that might explain why this building is a few stories shorter...

Yes it is, it was built before the viewcones. Telus Garden is actually in its viewcone shadow I believe which is why it was allowed to go taller than nearby buildings.

Pic by me yesterday.

Looks pretty lightweight to be permanent (compared to the concrete beams that were there before)
Looks to be at a higher elevation than the existing plaza
- could be for construction trailers.

Pic by me today same area from above (in distance):

Is there a name for this kind of telescoping thing with a claw bucket. It's being used to get the last of the fill out.

"Clamshell Telescopic Arm" is what Hitachi calls it. "Frickin Cool" is what I call it. ;-)

I've seen it used a couple of times, Hotel Georgia and The Exchange for example.

I do wonder if this project is still on schedule. They've been at it for quite a long time and have yet to get up to grade. (Yes, I'm fully aware they had to deconstruct an existing parkade beforehand.)

Not sure if its the skilled trade shortage, but I feel like a few projects around town have been an absolute crawl.

That's ok. Sepaking of a crawl: you should see the length of time needed to replace those escalators at Granville Skytrain station. 2 - 3 years???!! That's Vancouver for you.

Elevators and escalators are definitely a trade shortage issue, and not just Vancouver.

Here's another for you......a simple turnaround fix to the public toilets at Lumberman's Arch area of Stanley Park, they literally have had those baricaded with fencing since before summer...........OF LAST YEAR!!! and it looks no different today. Vancouver Parks are also a joke.

What you are all saying is doubtless, too. But is it "politically correct" Vancouver style to openly criticize the city like that? Sometimes Vancouver seems averse to self-criticism
Back to topic: This nice building. .... (and what it will add to the city in looks and feel, maybe?)

*facepalm*

Well let me add one more: the bus shelter in front of the Tiffany store along Burrard Street. Months later, they just started putting up two sides of the advertising columns.
