Time will tell whether I do or don't I guess. I agree the design is bland and we are working on making the building more interesting architecturally without adding too much to the cost which is significant. Height costs money and more height equals more skin which equals more $. We are also experimenting with different types of colored glass. I don't want to build a boring building.

Someone posted something about above grade parking. That was in the old design. All of the parking is below grade.

The January groundbreaking was based on the TIF being passed in June. Realistically groundbreaking will be in April or May.

The building will not be less than 49 stories and if what I'm diligently working on comes together could be as many as 57. I can't disclose what it is I'm working on.

Thank you for the updates, blenfest. Fingers crossed on the 57-floor possibility!

B. L. Good luck with the project and just wanted to say what a great presence your family has had on this region in regards to your generous and fantastic foundation. To you and your parents.

What would be the feet vs floor count be for a building like that?

To be honest, as long as it is an interesting glass block with a few architectural differentials I will not be too disappointed. A glass tower will fit in with the RATR right next to it.

Bump. Wondering if blenfest ()can give us updates on the status of a groundbreaking date and ETA on final design/height?

Here's a great article about improving the streetscape next to the new W Hotel. Maybe Blenfest can put a word about this in Darryl Clarke's ear. http://thisoldcity.com/vignettes/pho...e#.Uvt8JUJdWjY

Rendering

I have completely redesigned the look of the building and have maxed out the current permitted height putting it at 582 feet. I have a relatively basic PDF of the new design but can't find a way to post it here. I'm sure it will be out there sooner or later. Paul Levy is going to put it in his next Center City report.

The redesign has put us back to July or August for breaking ground.

Sounds great! We'll all be looking forward to seeing it. We're really excited for this project.

If you want to email me the PDF I can yank the renderings straight from that and post them here (if you have the time to do so that is)

Is Cope Linder still the architect?

Cope Linder is still the architect. Believe it or not I built what I wanted out of legos during this winters power outage in between putting logs on the fire to keep warm and dropped it off to Cope Linder. The result is not exactly what I had designed or wanted but I think it captures mostly what I envisioned.

Hope you like it.

That. Is. Awesome. I'd actually like to see that.

As someone who works at 1 South Broad with a west-facing window, I'm very excited to see this go up.

I have a new W Hotel rendering and it is glorious! Special thanks to Brook for emailing them to me directly. Shows how dedicated he is and that our opinion really matters to him.

I'll post the images ASAP

Seriously. I'm going to have to set up a time lapse.
