The significance of this building at this location is really starting to hit home with me.

That's it for me from 2016 except I'll put up another time lapse in a bit.

I wonder if the same crane is going to be used throughout construction. I don't see the lifting section on the existing crane.

I feel like this is Philly's unheralded project. It's not super flashy like the Bridge nor is making a major mark on the skyline, like say FMC or CITC or, heck even the Alexander. Maybe it's because this project has dragged on for soooo long, but it seems pretty under-the-radar as far as this forum goes. Even at nearly 600 feet tall, I'm guessing it won't be visible from most vantage points.

I think it's just as flashy as the Bridge. The design is different, especially for the top of the building. From a skyline perspective, I think it will be most notable from the N-S axis.

637,000+ views for this thread is nothing to sneeze at.

I appreciate it's height but it's not my favorite building. I do expect the finished product to look much better than the renderings. I'm hoping. The vague drawings of some lighting effects, it may even be flashier than we all expect.
I'm anxious to see the impact these new upscale hotels have on the buildings across the street. Pedestrian traffic will really flourish. A fabulous row of buildings.

Here are the perspective shots of the W Hotel site, as it looks today (12/27/2014).

The parking lot was pretty crowded today, about 85-90 cars, double parked. I guess if the cars are triple parked, another 15-20 cars could get in there, but that would be really tough.

Sorry for the over exposure on some of these. It's the best I can get from my iphone5.
Figured I'd dig up an old post to show how far we've come in 2 years time.

My God I am so happy to be replacing the hat friggin' parking lot for this awesome building. Wow. Sometimes I still can't believe it.

Looks like the NIMBY's have taken over Philly.

Nice one. That joke has an unfortunate degree of truth to it.
