do they have experience in building condos or is this their first?

this development is inching closer to removing that sea of parking lots in the area.

I don't believe they've done a high-rise condo before. Only townhome condos.

^Do you know if the City has a comprehensive plan for this part of Beasley or will its development be a very piecemeal type of thing?

Those are two totally separate questions actually...

The city has plans to build a park in the lot next door, which is in next years capital spending plan. The two will compliment each other and hopefully encourage more development.

Very nice.

Though I do hope that someone can build a nice pedestrian commercial set up in new developments back there, maybe an alley like Clarendon Lane in Ottawa's Byward Market or a courtyard like Market Square in Victoria... something nice and brick.

This weather has us dreaming of the warm months! Who would want to see a German beer garden in #HamOnt this summer?

Mac will be announcing their downtown grad residence in a few weeks. Joey Coleman tweeted about it today from city hall.

An intriguing vision of the Black Forest staff parking lot. I-beams may be the default Ferguson design motif but I'd much rather see the forest return to Black Forest.

Will this patio just cover the same area as the existing Black Forest patio, or will it be expanded?

And fills a quite different niche.

That's a public square, not a tucked away retail area.

Plus, why not want all the cool stuff? More is better.

There really isn't anything new here. This space has always been a patio for Black Florist. The only thing new in that rendering is the steel beam pergola and glass fencing instead of the lattice fencing.

Details coming on downtown McMaster residence

Hamilton, ON, Canada / AM900 CHML | Hamilton News
Ken Mann Posted: January 18, 2017 04:20 pm

An announcement is expected in the coming weeks in regards to a new graduate residence in Hamilton’s downtown core.

That according to McMaster University President Patrick Deane during his annual presentation to city councillors.

He adds that the project is at the request for proposals stage.

Ward 2 Councillor Jason Farr says “only good can come of it”, adding that the residence will be in addition to the LIUNA high-rise that is planned for James Street North, and also being marketed to grad students.

McMaster will be partnering with a private developer on the downtown graduate residence.

They now use a portion of it for parking.
