Fitting, since this building will also function as an art museum.

I'm curious about that blank space of wall just above the pedestal. Does anyone know what the plans are for it? Like faux windows or something else entirely?

I don't know for sure, but I'd guess that that has something to do with MoMA's expansion into the building's lower floors. After all, art museums mostly don't have large windows to preserve the artwork inside. That's probably a faux window, because it blends with the building but doesn't damage anything inside MoMA.

The revised plan for the former site of the American Folk Art Museum calls for a collection of one- and two-story galleries, including a black-box theater.

"it's so perfect ! " . . "it's so perfect ! " . .
well I'm sure that way "up there", it will be . . eventually . .
it just seems odd, having so many magnificent, boldly-angled beams
. . already crammed all over the very skinny north & south sides of 53W53rd . .
while the extremely broad east & west walls of the building's wide base, . .
don't have any at all on the lower floors . .

There's no bold angular structure expressed so far, that I can see,
not on these lower facades . . that would correspond to the impressive bones,
just 'round the edge from these less-remarkable east & west base faces . .
Yet, it's part of the same dynamic building . .
Even though these sides get mostly covered by other structures, . .
It would be nice to see the massive structural gestures, turn the corner . .

Of course there'll be no such discrepancy, on the upper "in-the-skyline" levels.
But I hope that the lost opportunity down here at street level, . .
will be disguised enough in the end . .
I wanna say "it's so perfect ! " too . .

Well I guess you have the right to criticize this building, but...
hmmmmm, how should I say this...
But everyone's gonna think you're missing marbles...
Just sayin...
And by the way...
Those blank walls will be appreciated by the museum...
Don't wanna hang art over a window...

What's up with the weird format with commas all over your posts?

We stayed in a hotel last week one block north of this thing and it's pretty impressive.
