My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Jay-Z and Beyonce buy the whole building last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Some more tidbits on the Penthouse here, plus a couple of renderings of it that I hadn't seen before.

Quote:
Priced at $17.6 million
Despite Jay Z and Beyoncé rumors, the unit is still available
It will be two floors (with two-story foyer) topped with a roof terrace and be roughly 9,000 square-feet
WSJ says it will be four bedrooms, four full baths and three half baths, and feature its own:
Library
Media Room
Two Living Rooms
Private interior elevator and a glass staircase (you know, for exercise)
a 2,500 square-foot private roof terrace with:
Hot tub
Multiple water features
Covered full kitchen
Sweeping views of the Delaware River and Independence Hall

Part of me really doesn't like this project for how ostentatious it is.

I wonder if when they designed that unit if they had specific people in mind for buying it.

I really like this building because it has a very New York and Los Angeles (Westwood/Hollywood) feel and I want to see buildings like this in the suburbs. The views would be amazing

Let it go buddy, this is peanuts ....

right up the road is 432 Park Ave ...
those things are going for 90 mil+!!!

Philly can have a little ultra-luxury too ... even if I (we) will never make that kinda money in multiple lifetimes.. (gotta laugh)

Yeah, but 432 is in Midtown. This is looking down on Independence Hall.

This is the exact negadelphian attitude that we need to get away from if we want our city to be successful. Obviously there are people willing to pay a good amount of money to live in Philly. I don't think $17.6 million is that much at all for Society Hill and Old City. And I think in the future we can definitely get higher price points for ultra-luxurious condo units.

Stop. I'm a cheerleader for virtually every project that goes on here. I'm not saying it shouldn't be built and if it was a few blocks away I wouldn't have said anything. My issue is that it's being built virtually on top of Independence Hall.

I like it. I think someone on here made a really cool point how we are about to have 3 different style buildings right next to each other all around the same height from different eras.

I agree to the point that Independence Hall should stand alone, in photographs, as well. But since Penn Mutual already encroached to get in the picture, I think I've grown to like it over the years. Like Tempeguy1000 mentioned in the post above^, it will show different types of architecture from different eras. I think the only ones that will be REALLY bothered by this project (mainly because of the construction noise), are those folks in the townhomes right behind where they're digging! (I could be wrong.) But I'm sure they have to be experiencing some disruptions.

Eh. You know how much of the neighborhood was ripped up to make way for the Mall? Independence Hall has enough space. This is a city. The last thing I want is to turn the Historic District into the National Mall. No thanks. I'm ALL for this project.

Though TempleGuy, I like the different building styles, I wish the heights also varied.
