I applaud your concern for Saint John and your passion for urbanization but if you want to be effective sooner or later you will have to propose solutions not just state the obvious.
Speaking out against urban sprawl and listing the negative effects it has on the downtown core and on the cost of delivering services is repeating what we have know for decades.
Obviously, many of us don't share your pessimism about Saint John's ability to respond to the challenges of suburbanization.I bet more than $20 milion on our Harbourfront condo project [backed up by persnal guarantees] in part because I believe that many suburbinites want to experience what our downtown has to offer.
We can spend endless hours discussing the issues but at the end of the day, words are meaningless without action.
What all cities want and need are realistic solutionsto urban sprawl that have worked elsewhere that we can implement here new ideas that will attract public and political support and are financially viable.
