Also, is there some interest in a general UIUC construction info page?

There is the football stadium + expanded IMPE, the new ~5 floor mba facility, the 5 floor mixed use near krannert, the 18 floor burnham, 24 floor college corner, the ~9 floor illuminate center, the ~3 floor jewish center and a soon **hopefully** start on the new elec eng building.

A nice little uni boom..
Absolutely there is interest, especially for those of us that are U of I alum!

How much money are they pumping into Memorial Stadium? Are there any renderings? I would hate to visit the campus just to see that they've replaced a few windows and swept the floor...

I believe they're expanding capacity. Considering Memorial Stadium rarely, if ever, sells out and consdering both the state and the university are crying out for more cash, the rennovations seem completely unnecessary.

A while ago I read that they were planning on doing something to Assembly Hall. Is this true, if so what are they planning on doing?

$100M+ , the project when completed in 2008 will reduce capacity from 69k to 65k. Then at some point, capacity could be raised to 80k.

It's still under construction, scheduled to be open for the Fall 2008 semester.

This is what it looked like on August 7-

I don't think that there is a UIUC forum. I generally get all my questions answered through this one.

I came through U of I's flight program, and from the air there wasn't really anything this tall around. In Chicago, this would get lost but Champaign this will be really tall. I have to fly to CMI when this is done. I'll get someone to snap photos from the back seat and post them.

Update! It's rising - September 7:

Meanwhile one block north, Burnham 310 (18 stories) continues to rise (Sept 7)-
