There will be an exposed section of the original slurry wall near West St in the memorial museum. The original footings of the towers will also be visible.

Yes, I know that. But is that something that was visible to the public when the towers were in existence? That is what I was getting at. Pre 9/11 I couldn't look at the slurry wall or the footings.

All that will be in the memorial. I don't think anything in the WTC before 9/11 is in its original location now. For a while a section of the underground concourse was preserved and integrated into the temporary PATH station, but its gone to make way for the new PATH station, and of course there's the survivor's staircase, now brought underground.

PS sorry for the off topic post.
=====================

I have a question, in pictures for the tower's base, it appears a portion will sit outside of the bathtub. Will they just pile into the ground there, or will it be sort of like a cantilever over the sidewalk.

I'm sorta confused. I thought it was stated that tower 3 would be started and finished before tower 2 because financing was in place for tower two first..but it seems tower 2 now is taking off first? Some updates?

Obviously not, but the answer was in response to these statements:

I provided the logical answer. Everybody happy.

The pic is a little misleading. The entire footprint will fit well within the "bathtub", which borders Church Street.

They are both pretty much in the same stages, tower 3 is only behind by a matter of weeks. The footprints aren't exactly the same, nor the sites, with tower 3 actually having done more blasting. Expect tower 3 to be under construction within a week or two, (if not already).

Silverstein, meanwhile, is now focused on erecting its three new skyscrapers on the east side of the WTC site.

Janno Lieber, Silverstein’s president of WTC development, said that Tower 4 is on track for a late 2013 opening. He then explained that
at 2 and 3 WTC, excavation for tower footings -- which form the very deepest structural anchors of the skyscrapers -- is nearly
complete and the buildings’ cores will start to rise over the coming weeks.

^ The southern end will be open in Sept 2011 for access to the Museum Pavillion but the Northern end will have to wait until the Transportation hub is completed and the temp hub is demoed -- 2014 or so..

According to the PA, Greenwich Street won't be open next year, they won't actually get around to rebuilding it until after next year. They are still in the process of working out access to the memorial site, which will have to be from the west because of all the ongoing construction.

from teh 2nd Quarter PA Report page 9

Focus, instead, has been on
completing the southern portion of Greenwich Street in preparation for the load
transfer in that area, as well as steel erection in the Memorial Pavilion and Plaza
areas.

This focus will help to ensure that we meet our 9/11/11 commitment to
deliver the southern portion of Greenwich Street as an access point onto the
Memorial Plaza.

Note that it's a report from the second quarter, i.e. April-June. We're now in late October...I'll believe NYGuy who's been on top of this project like crazy.

Zen, do you have any more recent info about that?

They have backed away from that...

The memorial, after all, is in one of the country's biggest construction sites and what was in the past a prime terrorism target. During construction, the skyscrapers and other buildings rising on three sides will pose a safety risk for the millions of visitors who are expected to visit.

A wide number of other issues also aren't resolved, from how visitors to the memorial will be screened to where the scores of tour buses will be parked. "It's a matter of figuring out, within all this heavy construction, how do you get people onto the site safely and off the site safely?" said Joe Daniels, president of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, in an interview. "We don't have all the answers yet."

Indeed, planners haven't even figured out exactly where visitors will enter the memorial on Sept. 12, 2011. At a news conference earlier this week, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the site would be open from the western end of Ground Zero. "Every once in a while they're going to have to move a beam or something and they'll close off a part of it," Mr. Bloomberg said.

But officials at the city and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which owns the site, declined to elaborate on exactly where on the western end of the memorial the entrance would be.
There's not too much room because the busy West Side Highway runs along the western edge, although there are bridges to Battery Park City that could be used. It's also not clear where lines will form in the likely event that the memorial is as popular as planners expect.

All the other sides of the memorial are closed off by construction. To the north the office tower at 1 World Trade Center, formerly the Freedom Tower, won't be finished until 2013, and three other office towers are planned to the east. To the south a parking and screening area is being built, and to the north a Santiago Calatrava- designed transit hub is under way with underground extensions reaching beneath the northeast corner of the memorial plaza.

One question, why don't they just raise the height of the tip 4 feet to have the height of the original 2WTC?

Or even better, have the roof height be 1362, it's 1278 now so only 84 more feet. Maybe if they redesign it they'll come to their senses.

It would still follow the spiral pattern of the sight plan as 1WTC is oficially 1776 feet tall... So 2 WTC just has to be less than that.

I don't think Silverstein/Foster had it in mind to mark a specific height, but who knows what will turn out in the end...

I'm still not clear on the addresses of WTC 2, 3 and 4 on Greenwich Street.

In New York City do not the majority of the North/South streets have odd numbers on their East sides of the street (as they are farther up Greenwich)? Certainly NY streets don't have both odd and even numbered addresses on the same side usually? Do they? So why is WTC4 150, WTC3 175 and WTC2 200 all on the same side (East) of Greenwich Street?

The addresses are what they are, get over it.
