Orange County, CA, Part 1: Orange & Fullerton

This is the first of three threads I'm going to be doing on cities in Orange County, though they won't be all inclusive. The most notable omission will be Santa Ana, the OC's most populous city, as I did a thread including that city here.

Given it's reputation as a suburban wasteland, I was quite impressed with some of the hidden gems amongst the sprawl.

Fullerton (pop 131,868, incorporated 1904)

I love this building

This theatre is being restored/repurposed

Orange (pop 136,392, incorporated 1888)

Two quietly attractive towns. They remind me a bit of the New Jersey suburbs I grew up in - not so much the architecture style but the downtown scale.

They were towns before they were suburbs--the suburbs just surrounded them.

Waiting for the "real OC": South Coast Plaza Mall.

I haven't been in years, but Old Town Orange was one of the better parts of Orange County.

I did the exact same day trip a couple of months ago! Both are fun little towns to visit. Fullerton is more of a nighlife town, while Orange is nice during the day.
