ehhhhh.... it's never been that successful. I doubt a lot of other people are going to think "piezanos is there so we better open a place up as well."

Never know. Is the law office open yet on the upper floors of Luhrs? I knew one was going in. They in yet? Would be a good place for lunch for them and other future tenants.

Will add a nice vibe to the street as Luhrs gets a few tenants and Cityscape gets open this summer.

There used to be a Schlotzsky's on the southwest corner of Central and Jefferson. Is that part of Luhr's? I think it shut down 4-5 years ago.

True enough but hopefully Cityscape and its retail will convince people to open stuff along Jefferson in both Luhrs bldgs and the Bannister bldg. That would really create a nice vibrant mix.

As recently as last year or so I remember a bail bonds store, a floor covering store, a florist, and some Chinese restaraunt.

If CityScape is inward facing, especially along Jefferson, this is a bad sign for retail to be successful in Luhrs. There needs to be retail along both sides of the same street, fronting the street. I guess we'll find out soon.

I was under the impression that the 1st floor retail would have entrances on the street and the inner courtyard. Is that incorrect?

Well it appears that the corner of Jefferson/Central there isn't an entrance to old AJ's site.

Maybe Oakville Grocery thinks the same thing about street access and they may ask that it be changed so there is street access, but my guess is that they probably want one controlled access point to prevent against grab and runs. Just a guess.

perhaps the Luhrs stores will benifit from CS' mistake with less competition of Jefferson. They will still get the increased foot trafic from CS and the new court tower. Too bad they can't keep the central building or it would have a lot of county workers walking past.

Went by there yesterday. Really impressed with what they've done to the storefronts. Lots of vacant space ready to be inhabited and a really nice job cleaning up the building. I gotta call and see what rates are. I'm dying to know.

They were just putting new window signs up on all streetfront shop windows. They are very nice and with a new design, looking for restaurant and shops.

not saying that I have any influence whatsoever but I've been talking to Fox Restaurant Concepts about putting a scaled down version of True Food's smoothie bar into Luhrs. They seemed receptive to the idea. It wouldn't hurt if some more people contacted restaurants/shops that are doing well in this economy and suggest they relocate/expand to Luhrs/CityScape.

I can't wait to see the chop house he is doing at Cityscape. The Modern Steak at Fashion Square is badass.

THis past weekend, I picked up 5 mahogany doors with original hardware, a transom, and a huge slab of travertine out of the Luhrs building. Going to reuse in one or more of my historic remodels.
