For my first time in 18 years, I live on a floor below the 10th. I currently live on the 2nd floor of a 23 floor building.

Before that:

Vancouver - 11th floor
Taiwan - 12th, 11th, 25th
Shanghai - 15th, 29th, 21st, 12th, 17th and 19th
Seoul - 15th

I would do 25+ but only if I didn't have a balcony.

Truth be told a balcony is not even a preference for me as I would much rather have space to live inside. Living in Vancouver, I find myself getting outdoors enough so a balcony is not something I would choose a place for. Just me though.

Second or third floor for me, if nothing suited me at ground level.

I live in a house and right now with kids an at-grade door is a must. Pre-kids we were very happy on the 9th floor with a view, enjoyed the 3rd in a high-rise area less due to lack of view and sunshine.

If/when we ever need to give up the house I would go for mid-rise height (6-10) and not on a major street to avoid truck/motorcycle noise.
