You can say that again. It looks like the architect crumpled & tossed it in the trash, then used the crumpled paper as inspiration. It seems architects are trying to imitate the Frank Gehry/Daniel Libeskiend "Contorted Rainbow Turd" movement that has blighted so many beautiful cities. At least it's in France & we won't have to see it.

Well, this certainly DOES look French...

... not that that's a positive thing.

The God-awful shape aside, the top reminds me of a cheap air conditioner with dozens of tiny pieces of tape blowing on the vent to show that there is airflow.

If built, this will clearly be the new front-runner for world's ugliest building. Kids, just because something is 'new' doesn't mean it's better. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean it needs to be done. Just because you dream something up, doesn't mean that it's not actually a nightmare.

This building is clearly somebody's dream.

But it's also nightmarish.

I pray it's never built.

You know, I am usually one of the people that finds and sees something beautiful and interesting in just about every building and have defended many a building that lots of other people don't like for one reason or another. But this building,,, buuutt ugly. Period

In general I think this building is extremely ugly, but for Paris, considering all the other new developments, I think it would work and would look ok.

Please, please organic people...stick to blobs on the ground and other low-rise protozoa.

It works if ever a shredded loofah could complement a skyline.

Okay , that's a big improvement but it's still a little too fat for my tastes. All the same , at least anybody who happens to look in its general direction won't instantly be turned to stone as with the old design. God ... that was hideous.

The "organic" look isn't really that bad to me but people who employ it in their designs should try and remember that "organic" doesn't necessarily equate to "nice to look at". Anybody who's ever dated a hippie chick can tell you all about how aesthetically pleasing her "organic" armpits look.

I still dont like it, its way too thick in the lower regions, but who knows, it will probably look good when its all said and done.

What is this movement to make the tops of buildings unfinished? Actually that type of "finish" looks as though the builder just ran out of $$$$$ and gave up.

Of course, nobody else will have any reason to visit that plaza, judging by the renderings.

Who throw in all these aimless people in the renderings anyway? It only makes the architects look to have no clue whatsoever how people use plazas and other urban environments.

This plaza looks as messy as the top of the tower, but since I'm not living in Paris I won't have to bother.

The construction permit has been granted. According to provisional schedule, the construction should start in 2011/2012 and end in 2014/2016 (though those dates are still hypothetical).

The title must be changed as follows though :

Granting the permit in the middle of the summer was a clever strategy... efficient way of weakening the opposition.
