Why?

The way they shoot the games at BMO - you can see the upper deck on the East side anyways.

They're the Grey Cup champions, you'd think they could maybe sell out the first game with some sort of party.

The problem is that the east side is scorching hot on summer days. I don’t want to sit over there.

Maybe use mannequins to fill the seats?

Last year's Most Outstanding Rookie James Wilder Jr won't be returning to the Argos and will sit the season out

I'm recalling the scene in Home Alone where the manicans are at home.

The Frankenstein deck on the East side is slim demand anyhow unless you're going to sell out or be close to it. Might as well tarp it band create a better atmosphere while also creating scarcity. You end up making more money charging more for 15k seats plus also saving on labour to supply a 90% empty upper deck. Business wise it's the smart move, stabilize your numbers and then you grow.

Some of these concepts are pretty cool. Still tough to top Schooners though....

I wonder how this afternoon's announcement of a relaunch of the XFL will affect the CFL.

Schooners is always going to be the preferred option. Don't mind Atlantic Armada if it had that Admirals blue and yellow colour scheme.

Agree, although I'm not keen on the Admiral logo (too busy). You won't be seeing anything called Halifax, but I have to say that East Coast Kraken is a new one on me and is interesting.

Problem with Kraken is 98% of the people probably have no clue what it is and it isn't really germane to the region. Cool name though.

Kraken is being talked about for the Seattle NHL team name as well. I think enough people know what Kraken is for it to be an ok name but I just see it being a niche meme name with nothing relating to the city or region whatsoever.

Not going to happen anyway. I've never cared for the Maritime part preferring Atlantic but East Coast is starting to grow on me. East Coast Tide kind of rolls off the tongue.

Corvettes of the Atlantic (Turning the usual naming convention on its head. Is it written in stone that the city or region name comes first?)

Rough tough little ships that carried the convoy load during WWII. Navy Blue and gold are the colours and a tough sailor wearing square rig as the logo.

Interesting, I would nominate that to be in contention.

Wikipedia: The club was founded in 1993 by The Walt Disney Company as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, a name based on the 1992 film The Mighty Ducks. Disney sold the franchise in 2005 to Henry and Susan Samueli, who along with General Manager Brian Burke, changed the name of the team to the Anaheim Ducks before the 2006–07 season.

It's really hard to blame him. He made an excellent case for himself to be considered by NFL teams, and you can bet they will be looking at him. So what really is the point of him grinding out a season for the Argos for his rookie import contract which pays something like $56K? There isn't much upside, and the downside is some nasty career ending injury.

The amount that the CFL pays rookie Americans is getting downright embarrassing... The number has barely budged in 30 years, possibly even longer.

*LOVE* this idea.

Many will automatically associate it with Chevy, but there is a teaching opportunity here.

I'm biased because my grandfather served aboard a couple of them during WWII.

Although it really really does make sense for them to be blue...

In division we have the Argos (double blue) Als (Blue and red) and in the west Bombers (blue and gold, with navy not too far in the past).

I think at the very least it needs to be a teal or seafoam green or something.

Some great ideas in here though. I was sold on Highlanders at one time, until I realized that's stupid for a team at sea level. Schooners is solid, Armada or Admirals for that navy reference. Not sold on Corvettes. So many people just don't know what it is. Maybe if there was an alliteration for it. Not picky on Halifax/Nova Scotia/Atlantic, that's even more up to those in the area than the nickname.

I think my pick would be teal-and-grey/gunmetal Schooners.
