It's like they kludged together a bunch of leftover tower designs from random architecture firms. I would have liked to see more ambition for a development like this, especially in Eau Claire.

I put that i liked it only because the pedestrian level seems very well planned out. The towers themselves look so mediocre.

I don't care one way or another for this proposal. Obviously it will be a huge improvement for the area but it's kinda Sim City filler for me at this point. Now as for the actual Eau Claire market proposal I'll be really miffed if it doesn't happen. Though at the glacial pace things are moving I'll believe it when I see it.

You don't care that these parking lots get developed??? I agree that the Eau Claire proposal is absolutely beautiful but what more did you expect from this site? I think that any birds eye view of a skyscraper rendering has a Simcity look to it, lol. You just need to throw in soft jazz playing in the background to complete the ambiance.

Thanks for posting Spring2008! I hope this one goes through...but I doubt it. It's too bad to hear that Eau Claire will not be developed, having 12 new towers in this area would have definitely given the neighborhood a new feel to it.

Admittedly I'm not as much of a planning geek to know it from its original source. For me it's

Of course I want the parking lots developed! I'm just saying the towers seem kinda generic and bland and not like real designs but placeholders.

Also, who said they're not going to be developed?

Apparently BCIMC's intention is to start this year. I wonder if that will still happen with the oil downturn? Still looking forward to hearing more about this project.

That is the hotel tower. The design has already been approved by the city.

I like the mic best too. I also like that each building is unique. We need less duplicates in this city.

I could see a new Delta Calgary being the first to break ground. It's unfortunate it shares the block with the office tower as that is looking like the last tower to go up.

There is no office tower component. Believe it's 6 rental towers plus 1 hotel tower.

AFAIK they have their DP now, Eastern block supposed to start first.

Hasn't BCIMC sold off the Delta chain to Marriott? I wonder if this changes anything.

The way I see it is BCIMC still owns a number of Delta branded hotels and Marriott is an opportunity to expand the brand internationally. Don't see Marriott paying tens of millions for a brand simply to throw away.
