St. Louis is heavy and dirty.

That older woman rocking the long hair is awesome.

yes!

that's like a block from me. it's like a little slice of pittsburgh or cincy on the slopes of that valley.

i knew a lot of the streets in the thread but not this! looks like a brick hamtramck or something. is it inner suburban? some of the old suburbs have housing styles that don't always resemble the city, and look like they were plucked out of cleveland or memphis or some other random place.

Those duckbill houses are on Crest Avenue in U. City. They are virtually identical to the predominant vernacular housing style of Cleveland. Considering how rare they are in St. Louis, it makes me wonder if the block was platted by a developer from Cleveland.

Ah. Shamefully I don't know U-City as well as I wish I did.

I always thought that this block looked suspiciously chicago-like and always wondered if the developer was from there. Although if memory serves, certain parts of north city have housing that looks more like that. er, is that the block on washington ave?

Yep, that's Washington just east of Walton in the CWE.

STL is too cool.

What street is that first shot on? I need to add it to my mental rolodex to streets to hit when I eventually make it to STL.

Thanks, Thundertubs! That first shot is on Eiler St. (@ Virginia Ave). I hope you will give us a ring when you're in town so we can go on a photobomb together!

That's hilarious, I've done a lot of Google Streetview stalking around STL and that was definitely one of the blocks I wanted to visit.

When I lived in Chicago I had no fewer than 3 planned trips to STL thwarted by things as random as an unfriendly 100-degree forecast and my grandmother hurting her leg. Some day...
