This website has a time-lapse camera along with video of the entire arena project that includes the Delta Hotel and Stantec Tower. http://www.denis.lemire.name/yegarena/
That is a dedicated soul who is making that time-lapse from his office window. I love the video, and would love to see a rendition of it with-out going through the night time (would also shorten it up a bit). Bravo none the less!
Do you agree with fatboy ? Or do you think that the developer has already taken into account depressed oil prices ?
Not worried for this one.

70 stories? Yikes indeed. Look forward to seeing something crazy.

ok..congrats on joining 500 ft club, not to burst the bubble...but, if commodity prices stay low for more than 6 months...this thing like a lot of projects in Alberta will be scaled BACK.

never heard of any highrise project being scaled back due to a dip in oil prices. cancelled or delayed...yes...scaled back...no. solid tenants and solid long term future so I suspect not

I doubt there would be a scale back or postponement now. They've already started work. If this project was a year or two away it might have been postponed, but other than that it should be a go.
Fabulous news regarding the height increase. Good to see both Calgary and Edmonton building tall as neither Montreal or Vancouver seem much interested in pushing beyond 200m.

Really?
See Calgary 1980's
The majority Alberta's economy rides on commodities.
Solid tenants don't exist.
Oh my! If the height increases are confirmed ... it'll be interesting to see the reactions from a certain city down south.
The reaction on my part is excitement. A bit of healthy competition isn't a bad thing. It'll hopefully spur developers in Calgary to push for even higher towers (although, perhaps not until oil prices rebound...).
I see Edmonton and Calgary's relationship as somewhat symbiotic - with each city accounting for about a third of Alberta's population, we need both of them to be doing well for the province to thrive. The cities have different economic drivers so I view them as complimentary rather than in competition. One can't hope for Alberta to succeed while wishing ill upon its capital.

I can tell you I've got my pom-poms out and am rooting for a height race.
