Might be wrong but the crane is up for this one. I was on Montcalm when I've saw the crane right near the Fontaine building, so I assume it's for Le Viu

I have been following the construction progress for a while now.

Still not out of the ground yet. They appear to be on the 2nd level of 3 garage floors.

I can't wait to see the foot print of the first few floors. At this pace, it may take months.

Speaking of this project, apparently a petition will be given to City Council tonight, asking them (and the developer) to not have construction work done during night time/early morning hours. City is permitting the developer to do some work at that time.

Article is only in French though.

Talking

Word is that the building will start coming out of the ground in late November when they get started on the first floor.

Another 2 months of waiting to see the actual footprint.

Gatineau's next project should be a thin 175m tower as close to the water as possible. Just to irritate the NCC by casting shadows on the river.

This thread does not seem to gather any interest.

Is it because its on the Quebec side?

I personally believe that the location is second to none. Where else can you find a large park as your front lawn by the Ottawa river and foot steps from a marina.

Very nice picture with ottawa condos in the background. I guess it was probably taken with zoom from Les Galeries de Hull top floor of parking garage.

I would pay to get nice pictures of 185 Laurier location as we are moving in next year.

I went by the site yesterday. The ground floor cement base (without any cement wall structure) appears to be close to completion.

They removed the tall wood fencing around the site and replaced with smaller fencing including a meshed portion on the side of Port de Plaisance that allows for a good view of the progress.

Its coming up......

Dec 7, 2012 - From their Facebook page..

A really good spot to snap a picture of the construction would be at the Sussex Street exit from the M-C Bridge. Next time I'm around there, I'll take a pic

No kidding. That seems to have gone up fast. I'm excited for this skyline upgrade on the Quebec side. I hope they go TALL for the next condo project.

Drove my wife to the Galleries yesterday, and I hadn't been over to the Gatineau/Hull for a while. I didn't realize just how much density that this, the building going up on Maisonneuve (sorry about the spelling), the new office building across the bridge from Hotel De Ville, and the federal building that went up on Eddy. The main areas of Hull and Gatineau are starting to really look more like a mid-to-downtown district than they did before...more of a twin city kinda feel to it...
