I noticed workmen at site the last few days doing stuff. Must be getting the site ready.

Rumor has it that pile-drivers should be on site at the end of August or beginning of September.

For the Bow - they went down 70 feet - I think. I would be willing to bet that it would be about the same - but they will need a lot of 1 gallon pails to get all the fill out of there.
It's always interesting to know how far they do go. For the old Petro Canada building a worker told me that they went down 55 feet.
PS - if I'm wrong - someone please either enlighten me on this - or correct me on this - thx.

Get ready to add this one to the construction page very soon.

Cenovus (an oil company) has announced that they will lease 1M of the 1.4M square feet in this tower.

Approvals are all in place and apparently excavation could begin in September.

I think it'll be soon. The last few times I have gone past there, there have been workers doing what looks to be site prep work.

Will this complex be built with steel - like the Bow - or will there be more poured concrete for the structural parts???
( It will be interesting to see the size of the "raft slab" for this project. )

Good question. The Bow and EAP both were mostly steel...with EAP being concrete core. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same for this one.

Found out that all the workers onsite are actually working on the parkade as they have just added a new elevator shaft in the middle. Kind of a waste in my opinion since they will only have that parkade for maybe another three years.

^That does seem strange. Maybe now was an easy time to do it, so they went for it?

Some new renderings, with a focus on the plaza and atrium space.

I must admit my disappointment with the relatively subdued shape of the taller unit.
Matter of fact, I'm not sure why even at this height they decided to go Dr. Evil/MiniMe again. The Telus proposal is shorter, but only has one component.
How tall does this city think they need to build before they can woo tenants with only one unit? Or what would their justification be to decide whether or not to at some arbitrary height? Market conditions, perhaps?
Please forgive my ignorance. It's just that this building trend in Calgary has come to absolutely define the city's architecture thru the years as much as what uneven balcony widths seem to be doing in TdotO (e.g. Aura @ College Park and Trump).

Let's hope that they will soon call up the people with their 1 gallon buckets - so that they can start hauling all that fill out of there. I look forward to this one starting up.
