Implementing a % of social housing and a % of market rental in this & other major projects is what makes this all good. I hope the principle is applied in broad brush throughout the city.
I agree with you to a certain extent, but I can't help feeling that if this $70M was used elsewhere in the city, or even in a cheaper building nearby it would have paid for much more than 113 units.
This tower along with The Butterfly should be just as tall as the Shangri La due its higher elevation on Nelson. That makes them over 700 ft.+ above sea level (Shangri La still remains Vancouver's unofficial 700+ footer when viewed from the water and Stanley Park - but don't tell anyone its true height )
But which tower is proposed between Smithe and Robson as seen in the 2035 dome skyline cross sectional?
Well, it would shadow Robson, so probbaly not allowed...
But.... assuming it's near Burrard, it could be a redevelopment of the Sutton Place or the condo complex across Burrard where the Denny's used to be.
No news on this one, but adding here the high-resolution renderings seen on a 2020 article on Dezeen.
It looks to me like there was a small iteration on few of the details of the prior renderings, but this is also a year old by now. I really hate how they couldn't bother straightening the horizon on any of these when producing the renderings...
1075 Nelson Street will be distinguished by its billowing form wrapped by metallic horizontal bands and, on the main facade, two vertical strips of wavey green cladding.
the only thing I don't like about it, is it will be amongst a clump of other tall buildings and they will just sort of blend together and lose their interest.
Something incredibly 'vagina-esque' about this tower. I'm afraid this is how it will referred to once completed. If the LED changes to red, even more so.

Eww yes ... now that you mention it, that comes into focus. I'm afraid to say I rather preferred the original design with the 'honey comb' upper crown.
That building design was much finer and more elegant than this one.

That's what happens when the city refuses to show any flexibility, maturity or thoughtfulness on its height-limiting policies.
