Bryan County in Oklahoma is already part of the DFW MSA, so I'd say it's already leaped the border. The 75 corridor appears to be the favored growth area all the way to Durant.

You mean "CSA." It's not part of the MSA.

Yes, I think I may have been thinking of both the Collin County Outer Loop and the other one that has been in discussion for years. It makes sense that they are one and the same.

If you search for the CCOL on Google, there is an option with Google Maps showing that a road between 121 and 75 (north of Melissa and south of Anna) is already labeled as such. Pretty interesting.

This is the most recent article that I found on the subject (from May 30, 2018). Anyone know of anything more recent?

That's awesome thing going with Fountain Place. I wished City Place had a cousin going in across 75 with the pedestrian bridge across the highway.

Your wish should be granted soon since that precise thing, sans the bridge, is in the works right now.

@eburress
The massing looks like the plot where, I think, Sam's was proposed to be (correct me on that, guys) - where N. Carroll Ave meets up with 75, just north of Blackburn St. It's a big empty lot now.

Whoa. That De La Vega project would create a whole 2nd skyline east of 75.

Uptown Dallas' new Central Market store will anchor a high-rise mixed-use project

Project Location

Quote:
The supermarket will be part of a high-rise development planned for the block at McKinney and Lemmon avenues that will include offices, shops and restaurants.
Quote:
"We see this project as the unifier between Uptown and what's going on in Cityplace and the West Village," said KDC president Toby Grove.
Quote:
Instead of just remodeling the existing building, Central Market will occupy the lower levels of a 19-story mixed-use project KDC plans for the high-profile Uptown block.

Dallas architect Omniplan and San Antonio design firm Lake|Flato are designing the development, which will take up most of the 4.8-acre block between McKinney and Oak Grove.
Quote:
"It's going to be very well-connected with the DART rail station nearby and the street car that stops out front."

KDC plans to build a 2-acre public plaza on the roof of the Central Market that will have access to the office tower and shops and restaurants facing the elevated public space.
Quote:
"Central Market shoppers will have parking on two levels of garage on top of the store," said KDC executive vice president Walt Mountford. "On top of that, the amenity deck will have great views of downtown.

"It's going to be a great experience for both the retail users and tenants in the office building."
Quote:
"This will be largest store in Central Market's portfolio," Mountford said. "There will be a total of 150,000 square feet of retail in the entire project.
Quote:
"This activates the entire street frontage, and it will be a great pedestrian experience."

The planned Uptown store will be Central Market's seventh location in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Quote:

KDC will seek zoning changes for the Uptown block to allow the construction of the development, including asking for an additional 85 feet in building height.

The 450,000-square-foot office tower is being made taller to allow for the plaza area on the south side.

The Office of James Burnett — the same firm that did downtown's Klyde Warren Park — is designing the plaza and street-side landscaping.

"This will be the longest storefront on McKinney Avenue," said KDC senior vice president Colin Fitzgibbons. "The pedestrian experience should be great and a vast improvement over what is there today."

Because of the complexity of the project and underground parking that will be excavated on most of the block, construction will take more than two years.

The planned Uptown Central Market will be the fourth new urban grocery store in central Dallas that is combined with a high-rise building.

Indeed! The Central Market mixed use project is a best possible outcome for that spot and hopefully helps to compel other future projects in the area more in that direction (urban, pedestrian friendly, etc).

This is great. The property owners also have the Walgreen's lot next door. I hope that goes vertical with a ground floor Walgreen's sometime in the near future.

The west cityplace area is becoming the best modern urban neighborhood in the state, IMO.

The Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation proposes a state-of-the-art VisitDallas Experience Center

Quote:
DALLAS (Oct. 19, 2018) – The Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation (WRPF) and VisitDallas today announced an innovative partnership that will complete the original vision of Klyde Warren Park.

The estimated $76 million project adds 1.2 acres over Woodall Rodgers Freeway, just west of St. Paul Street. This land will be used for a 20,000-square-foot pavilion that will house the state-of-the-art VisitDallas Experience Center, a Visitor Center unlike any other in the U.S., fusing “best in class” customer service with interactive technology that tells the Dallas story. The expansion will include additional green spaces and public gathering spots, assist with the Park’s long-term financial sustainability, and allow the privately-operated park to expand the more than 1,300 free programs and events it already provides annually.

Design & Construction of the project is scheduled to begin in 2019, with completion anticipated as early as 2022.
