Thanks Mark! I bike there regularly (well, when the weather is better) and I remember the 2017 flood having some massive waves.

I heard on the radio yesterday that the output of water at the Chaudière dam was two olympic-sized pools per second, almost double that of Niagara Falls.

Maybe they were exaggerating or being sensational.

Bate Island is sure taking a hit. Too intense for the kayakers.. not that they can even get there since the place is closed.

As per this article, here are some interesting zibi tidbits:

- construction for Block 211 has started. it`s the first new office building in about 5 years in ottawa.

- a couple of 100K SQ tenants will be announced shortly for the building.

- Block 211 will be completed in 2022.

- As construction heads toward a peak, likely in 2020, Zibi will also begin to add more permanent residents. A 149-unit, 14-storey apartment tower will begin to rise this fall, and the building will also be home to the project’s district energy system.

- The O condos are now 90% sold.

- The Kanaal Condos are sold out and will gain occupancy in December.

What's "block 211"?
That entire little park next to the bridge on the Gatineau side is flooded right now. They'll have to dump some ground in there and reinforce the entire bank with boulders/concrete if they don't want it to get swept every second spring.

Thanks.
Does anyone knows who owns this bridge behind War Museum?
They spent so much money on it with benches and everything in 2015 and it's been closed ever since.
Even if it's fenced off on the other end due to construction why not open it on this end for public? It's a nice promenade.

I think Hydro Ottawa had to rebuild that bridge as part of their project since it is part of the dam's water control. The last 50 feet is hinging on the Zibi development. I heard it might not open until next year at the soonest. I believe it all gets transferred to the NCC at the end, but they don't like to take ownership until it's all completed, so it might be caught in a liability limbo.

In the article, it talks about a couple 100,000 sqft tenants. The office building is 200,000 sqft. So is it two tenants for the entire building, or will they need to build a second office building. Or maybe they have a couple 100,000 sqft worth of tenants lined up?

One of the industrial buildings along Eddy being rebuilt as commercial.
You can see "O" and container tower in the reflection.

Stumbled upon their open house or something.
Featuring the latest map and renders of a few planned commercial buildings. Don't think I've seen those before.

I believe Block 211 is the only one ready for shovels at the moment. If the rest of the industry continues to drag its feet, we might see a few more of these go up sooner than later.

the government is in a quebec office space bind right now. DND's not going back to Louis St. Laurent, the NPB is basically a warehouse full of cubicles, TDLC is literally shedding bricks and needs a complete overhaul (contract awarded already), PDP needs the same.

I'm surprised no-one is pushing for more of the Gatineau-side office space to get expedited.

I've been thing the same thing for the last little while. I expect we won't see any progress on that front until after the election.

In the francophone media this morning there is news that the Promenade du Portage bar Le Petit Chicago will be moving to what I believe will be the first of Zibi's commercial buildings.

Article in French:

https://www.ledroit.com/actualites/g...1f96ef23830c61

A few months ago, we discussed on here how Le Petit Chicago was getting kicked out of its current digs:

https://forum.skyscraperpage.com/sho...postcount=5604

Apparently Zibi approached the bar when they read in the news about it becoming "homeless". Which shows that the Zibi people are aggressive and on the ball when it comes to pursuing commercial occupants.

That's awesome news!! Solid anchor tenant for Zibi. Good indication that they want local, not chains (à la Lansdowne).

Reminds of Festibière; they were displaced from the Museum of Civilization by the floods this year and Zibi stepped up to offer a new space for this year's edition (in June). Very impressed!

Timeline

So what is the general timeline for the various phases?
Are we talking about a year per phase? Two? Three?

Has anybody asked them?
