Syrian Cities.

Some pics of our visit to this fascinating country in the Middle east.
With my girlfriend and our little son, we travelled from Damscus to Palmyra, Hama, Aleppo and back to Damascus,
all by public transport and taxi's.

I Damascus. New Town.

Interesting...I've never seen pics of there before. That pic of the 55 Chevy cracks me up...lime green was not an available choice in color when they were manufactured...

this shot reminds me of D.C./Paris and San Antonio all in one...

That's the truth for the modern part of the city. I will continue with the old part soon. That part looks much more oriental.
And after all, Damascus is one of the oldest, if not the oldest city in the world!

So, to be continued!

Looks very well lived in - seem to be enough air conditioners, and too many cars.

Thank you for a glimpse of the other side.

Sure, the old cities of Damascus, Aleppo and Hama. And the ancient sites of Palmyra, Apamea, Krak De Chevaliers, St-Simeon, Masyaf, Ma'loula,, Seydnaya and the Cities of Dead...

So a lot of pictures to show, but I have to take cvare of my limited bandwith.

I continue with the old town of Damascus.

II Damascus: Old Town.

Quote:
Damascus is the capital and largest city of Syria. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world , before Al Fayyum, and Gaziantep. Its current population is estimated at about 1.67 million. The city is a governorate by itself, and the capital of the governorate of Rif Dimashq.
