Google Maps updated

The new aerial images seem to be from about July, based on the Orange Line MAX construction. That's the most stunning part IMO, but the N Williams corridor, SE Division, etc really are big changes from previous shots.

This was a cool bit of research! Thanks for sharing. One of my favorite hobbies is checking out any historic photos about a city and gauging change over time. Google really makes it easy and convenient and really valuable as a gauge of change both positive and negative.

On another note, I really wish there were a database for all new and proposed projects on a better interface than metro/pdf files. Something that could be perused leisurely and shows real time new proposals. Maybe integrated with a map. I wish I were more computer savvy.

Funny you should mention that. I've considered making such a website myself, but have decided that I'm too busy at the moment with various other things in my life.

I was thinking about this last weekend. I'm not that familiar with cms, but maybe something like drupal would work. I've never built a drupal taxonomy, but I assume it's kind of similar to building a dB schema. Does anyone know if there are free hosts for drupal? Something like this would be really useful, and I'd be happy to help out.

If there's any rote work that can be done, I'd volunteer time for this! I am really a computer dunce though, and know unskilled is a hazard. I hope you can find those free hosts. Can we maybe start a new post about it if you get started?

The "New" Google Maps I noticed today isn't updated, but Google Earth has photography from July of 2014 available as well. It's really interesting being able to see the new Orange line's configuration from above.

Hey, you got my house in the "after" shot! Very cool.

So glad they chopped down all those pesky trees on Lincoln.

SW Lincoln was nicer before, wasn't it? As excited as I am for PMLR, I think the urban design along Lincoln is a let down. When they announced that the ecotrack, I was imagining something more like this:

Yes, I was being facetious. But yeah, I think they even used this French example as their template, but it definitely fell short of that. I think if they had replicated that look exactly, there would have been PSU students sunbathing on the tracks.
