Bound to be wrong, but it's always fun to guess.

Stage Play
A - Brazil and Croatia
B - Spain and Netherlands
C - Colombia and Greece
D - Uruguay and England
E - Switzerland and Ecuador
F - Argentina and Bosnia Herzegovina
G - Germany and Portugal
H - Belgium and Algeria

Round of 16
Brazil over the Netherlands
Colombia over England
B&H over Switzerland
Germany over Algeria
Spain over Croatia
Uruguay over Greece
Argentina over Ecuador
Portugal over Belgium

Quarterfinals
Brazil over Colombia
Germany over B&H
Uruguay over Spain
Portugal over Argentina

Semifinals
Germany over Brazil
Portugal over Uruguay

Final
Portugal over Germany

Haha Portugal. Maybe not. It looked good while I was figuring it out.

Group B,D and G are tough. No real group of death, like we see some years.

I'm going with Brazil for this one. They're always a threat, but at home they will be tough for sure. Who knows maybe a European team (Spain) might take it. It's gotta happen sometime.

A European team has won the last two,

three of the last four

and four of the last six

world cups, I am pretty sure.

^I think they meant that no European side has won when the Cup was hosted in South America.

Cheering for Argentina but not sure how their chances are with the lack of defense and goaltending. Looks like Costa is playing so I wouldn't be surprised to Spain repeat. The number of injuries this year sucks and is really going to hurt a couple of contenders.

Cheering for Brazil, Colombia and USA. Will enjoy watching England, Cameroon, Nigeria, Chile and France play, but realistically it will probably be Brazil or Germany/Spain winning.

My favorite will be Holland/Nederland.

Then Deutschland, then England.

After that I'm gonna go for the African Teams, Cote De'Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon.

I'm just cheering for football in general. I don't care who wins, but I want it to be good play and a safe event.

Football is supposed to be politics free.

I'm sure there's absolutely no coincidence of Ukraine being the highest-ranked team not in the World Cup. Just a coincidence.

I don't believe Vladimir Putin was there when they lost in the qualifying.

Yep, just meant that it won't be easy for a European team to win the cup in SA. It will happen sometime and maybe now is the time, but we all remember what happened to France after winning the world cup and the Euro cup. They flamed out heavily in the next world cup so expecting Spain to win it might be more of a stretch than people think.

Personally I'd like to see Germany or Spain take it, bit I'm still going with Brazil partially because they are hosting and also because they are consistent...they are always there. Overall I like their chances.
