Every time I peek in at this thread, that rendering looks familiar; there is a Toronto project that looks similar. Maybe it's just the lighting. Both are good looking structures, I hope it gets built.

You guys are forgettin about Syracuse, the Cuse actually has projects underway. Believe it or not there are cranes downtown! A couple of projects that look like definite go aheads are the Convention center hotel, The Destiny Hotel (i know i cant believe it either),the Childrens Hostpital ,and Syracuse University has a handful of projects that should change the skyline.

Perhaps, but if B-Lo had half the potential skyline altering projects that T-O has, half of us on this thread would climax. Toronto dosen't have groups of 70-99 year old ladies using whats left of their lungs to shout out against every new proposal within The Buffalo City Limits ether.

Good stuff.

Next plan of action is to get about 100 Greyhound buses, line them up on Lincoln Parkway and give the over 70 crowd a one-way trip to S. Florida.

Shuffleboard for everyone.

I'm with you there BuffaloBill. My aunt finally kicked at 96, and Uncle (75) is headed to the nursing home. Both lived at Parkview. I can't help but think it may have turned the tide. They were outspoken critics of this (AND EVERY) project in Buffalo.

WNY OWN STATE!

Indeed, that's why I say, you will see things happening in Roc~town soon as well. I think Buffalo is slowly getting new quality leadership, starting with Mayor Brown. He himself, is not a new politician, but I think he's in the right position. I really like his enthusiasm with this project, as well as The BCS Tower, which he vows will be built. With an influx of well placed planners (I hear he added a few from Texas) things could pick up. The problems in WNY were not created overnight, and won't be solved overnight. Things are happening. Not as fast as we would like, but for a LONG TIME, there was nothing.

So come on Rochester, try to keep up, B-Lo will go slowly until you do.

Were almost the same size as Buffalo now!.

Rochester is going to slowly come back. We have some job growth which is always nice. I have some insider on how much Kodak is going to layoff... Doesn't look to good... But also it wont be as bad as before.

Another thing... It is nice to see our sister city having some good leaders... In Rochester it seems like they have there head up there arse pretty deep. It is extremly frustrating.

Just think, If only Xerox had taken advantage of Bill Gates's proposel called WINDOWS, Buffalo and Rochester might have been what Seattle and Portland are.

why is it that nearby Niagara Falls, NY still has the taller buildings in the area. The new Hilton tower is to be 58 stories, I think HSBC is only 40 Stories. Does Buffalo have any bigger projects coming up that will actually significantly add to its skyline?

canada--you're thinking of the Canadian side of the Falls. Yes--there are some big projects over there fueled by tourism and the casinos. This type of construction is different from the residential, commercial and mixed-use that Buffalo is now trying to develop. Yes there is a big project on the horizon--the 40 story Buffalo City Tower by BSC group, as well as some others--see the Buffalo thread in the City Compilations section for a complete list.

Well, thanks to BANKofMANHATTAN's creative skillz, Here's what the Skyline's prabably going to look like in the next 4 or 5 years. THX again BOM!

For Halovet:

and just think, this dosen't include the New U.S. Courthouse, Dulski renovations, Paladino's Lakefront tower,
50 Court, or 33 Gates Circle.

Just got mine in the mail today. Funny thing, all the legal mumbo-jumbo verbage on the back specifically mentions "the New York Yankees", MLB rules, and nobody else. WTF?!?! Maybe by appearing under the guise of a better-run league (how sad is it that we can call MLB better-run?) they'll try to instill more of a sense of credibility.

Compleeeeeetly different dynamic. Not to mention being in a different, more progressive nation/province (meanwhile this one seems hell bent on diminishing the importance of the border). Thing I don't like about the Canadian side, however, is that the falls themselves have almost become something of a sideshow. Quite sad, really. Oh well.

Also consider it has a taller and faster growing skyline than many so-called "booming" US cities and probably anything else in Canada save for probably just Toronto and Vancouver.

I love that "rendering"; by far the best. Hopefully in a few years I'll get to see that angle every afternoon! All it needs is something tall to either side of the Electric Tower and/or in the gap between M&T and HSBC and I'd say it'd be a pretty damn well-balanced skyline, from that angle at least.

^^ Yeah if you're coming north on the 190 the gap between HSBC and Main Place is horrendous. There are a few parking lots near/ on main st between the two towers that could be used; just incase anyone here is a big developer

Give it time, I'm sure Bashir (Isa) and a few other's have taken new interest in the skyline now that new attention has been paid. I wonder if Palidino's Lakefront tower (around 18 stories I think) will at least have an impact on that HSBC-M&T gap, at least looking from the west? Anyway, here's that tower again for reference.

Also, here's a site where there seems to be some info on other Palidino projects!
