New Orleans CBD ground level photos

Hello All,

I'm new to the site as a poster, but have been viewing everyone's fantastic images on here for awhile. I live in the Quarter, in New Orleans, so I thought I'd take my camera out to get a few photos in the CBD. Hope you guys like them. If so, I'll get more around the Quarter, Garden District and Uptown later. NOLA isn't exactly known for its skyscraper architecture but nonetheless it's a pleasant downtown area. Okay here goes...

Looking down Royal St. towards the CBD from the Quarter

Looking across Canal St. at the CBD, Canal is a point of contention among locals as to whether it's the border between the Quarter and the CBD or not..

Looking down Canal toward the river...

Down St. Charles, note One Shell Square looming over the "old" Hilton..

This black building on the right is recently constructed condos, kinda strange floor to ceiling windows, perhaps and homage to the same french door type windows in other parts of the city...

Home of the World Champs..

The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals..

Love how this "newer" building wraps around the old Whitney Bank Bldg...

Sorry that some of them are sideways, people. I tried to correct this on imageshack, but apparently with no luck. Anyhow, I hope you guys enjoyed a little taste of NOLA's CBD.

Forgot to include this one, the rendering of Trump Tower. Doubt it will ever be built, a New York building just won't float in New Orleans. No pun intended. It would however be an iconic building, something the city lacks on its skyline.

Nice tour of the CBD...thanks! I see you got a shot of the Rault Center...the building with the broken windows for those from out of town. That place has been vacant for decades since the big fire and needs to be torn down or redeveloped.

Awesome thread, thank you!

Wow, if hypothetically the Trump tower got built and I had money, I would totally buy one of those 400K places there.

Great shots! Well worth turning sideways to see some of them.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I'll try to get out sometime soon and get some shots of the entire skyline, as well as some shots in the Quarter. It's tough to do here because the only high spots are on bridges. I'll work something out though.
