I doubt they'll be able to add the rest of the spire with that crane unless they raise the crane first. Otherwise, they'll have to remove the crane first and then probably do it with a helicopter.

Maybe the rest of it will be done with short pieces installed by some guy shimmying up the pole.

Maybe it'll telescope up out of the base and lock into place like an old cell phone antenna.

I'm not overly impressed with the spire here. It's an antenna on a box....kinda like a handheld radio back in the day.

Just wait until the little red light is installed on top.

At the very least, it looks to be pretty damn tall though... It seems like it's only halfway up at most.

I hope it has cool led lights at night and not just a red flashing light.

Considering how thick it is, it would be a crime not to install multicolored LED lighting on it.

By the way, kinda funny how it just popped up all of a sudden after us asking about it.

Did anyone see how it was installed? I could be wrong but it doesn't look they used the crane. It doesn't even look like the crane is being used anymore.

It was put into place with the crane. But there was nothing added to it today.

I was just backtracking to the previous page and saw that. My bad.

Missed several posts.

I saw it today. I'd say it's about 70 feet tall so far since it's slightly shorter than the four crane pieces poking above the roof, and I've read before that those are 20 feet tall each. It seems to be 10 to 15 feet shorter than those.

By the way, I noticed that the contact I had for the heights told me wrong. They said the spire would stand on the main roof, which it won't. It's standing on the roof slab of the mechanical roof. So the spire starts at 451 feet above the street. With the height being 595 feet, that would have to mean the spire is 144 feet tall. So a little less than half of the spire is up there now.

I was also looking through the posts, and the FAA permits for the cranes said they were 580 and 590 feet. So the spire will be slightly higher than the tallest crane, whichever one it is that's still up there.

I noticed they were moving the crane again today. I'm thinking of going back downtown again in a bit for some more photos since you can't beat this weather.

HOLY CRAP!!! Great views!

Wish the Aloft/Element developers were smart enough to complete the "blank" side of their building with the modern gray siding instead of that crap concrete/stucco stuff.

Cannot wait to see Rainey from that view in the second pic a few years from now.
