Lower right; 281 5th. Also the Virgin Hotel on the lower left, and up North, 220 CPS, directly next to it CPT, to the right, Stienway (Bordering Central Park) and Verre creeping behind the GE Building.

I'm looking at that last pic and it makes me wonder why this tower wasn't erected on SkyHouses other side (Madison?) to cover up that unfortunate bare concrete wall.

^That has got to be one of the most ridiculous cantilevered accommodations I've ever seen. That building looks like a piece of crap...why were they unable to acquire it?

I like that cantilever. Gives the street character. And 40 years from now people will still be saying "whiskey, tango, foxtrot, over?"

Reminds me of the elderly woman who wouldn't sell her house to Macy's when they were building a new store in Queens.

Yikes … SkyHouse is really brutal. Glad it's getting some company with this tower and other projects.

NoMad's Tallest Building, 277 Fifth Avenue, Comes Into View

Height looks like its been cut

NoMad's Tallest Building, 277 Fifth Avenue, Comes Into View
Jan 18

https://www.cityrealty.com/nyc/marke...nto-view/15367

Quote:
Pedestrians walking north along the lower extents of Fifth Avenue have probably noticed a new skyscraper coming into view —nearly encroaching on the sacred space long occupied by the Empire State Building. The under-construction tower is 277 Fifth Avenue, a lanky, 663-foot tall condominium being developed by The Victor Group in partnership with Lendlease. Upon completion later this year, the 55-floor, vertically-striped prism will be the tallest structure in NoMad. The tower reached its halfway point last August.

"The under-construction tower is 277 Fifth Avenue,
a lanky, 663-foot tall condominium"
- from PeterQM's post (just above)

so which is it?
277 5th Ave at 663-ft . . or
281 5th Ave at 705 ft . . ?

then there's a rendering of 275-273 5th Ave in the same post . .
evidently that cute little cantilevered-over brownstone . .
gets its base incorporated into a more modern configuration . .
I was hoping that 275 would at least replicate its original ornate cornice
so that it might've proven a bit more worthy of interrupting the shank
of its towering neighbor . .
