I'm looking at that last pic and it makes me wonder why this tower wasn't erected on SkyHouses other side (Madison?) to cover up that unfortunate bare concrete wall.
^That has got to be one of the most ridiculous cantilevered accommodations I've ever seen. That building looks like a piece of crap...why were they unable to acquire it?

Pedestrians walking north along the lower extents of Fifth Avenue have probably noticed a new skyscraper coming into view —nearly encroaching on the sacred space long occupied by the Empire State Building. The under-construction tower is 277 Fifth Avenue, a lanky, 663-foot tall condominium being developed by The Victor Group in partnership with Lendlease. Upon completion later this year, the 55-floor, vertically-striped prism will be the tallest structure in NoMad. The tower reached its halfway point last August.

then there's a rendering of 275-273 5th Ave in the same post . .
evidently that cute little cantilevered-over brownstone . .
gets its base incorporated into a more modern configuration . .
I was hoping that 275 would at least replicate its original ornate cornice
so that it might've proven a bit more worthy of interrupting the shank
of its towering neighbor . .
