Not sure if this is exactly a "landscapes" item but I liked this blog post about rhododendrons in Nova Scotia: http://halifaxbloggers.ca/noticedinn...endron-moment/

They do well in the climate and soil in NS; some similar evergreen leafy plants are native to NS and the full-sized rhododendrons themselves grow wild farther south along the Atlantic coast in places like North Carolina. In Nova Scotia they can grow to 10-15 feet tall, they come in a wide variety of colours, and they can grow successfully in wild settings along with native plants. They stay green right through the winter. The best ones are found on the milder western/southern/Atlantic side of the province, from about Halifax down along the South Shore and back up to the Annapolis Valley.

Gorgeous pics, guys.

It's amazing the difference in the average size of pants between here and the mainland (or southern parts of it). Peggy's Cove looks like here. The pics above don't.

And LOL'd at the options in the "How high do you want to live?" thread. "4-6 floors, around the tops of the trees" or whatever... I'm on the second floor of my house right now and I can see over most trees around here.

A few recent ones from here.

We're not even know for mountain biking even amongst ourselves yet. It's as niche as hurling here. But, fingers crossed, it'll become more popular.

There are lots of trails created/maintained by the mountain biking fans.

Always love your pictures Bulliver. looks like some good trips.

Anyways, I have made my way back to Canada for a 3 week trip, first time in 2 years!

So here are some pics from my first road trip of this vacation.

I took the Duffy Lake Road from Vancouver to Lillooet.

Pemberton Train Station (amazingly still active!)

The views of the Coast Mountains are amazing along the Duffy Lake Road (highway 99)

Then you drop down into the semi-arid south Fraser Canyon in Lillooet. A very interesting transition zone between Ponderosa Pine / Douglas Fir forest and sage scrublands. It was 37 when I took these two pictures, felt like an oven with the blazing sun through the crystal clear skies. This is the historic Lillooet Bridge.

Pics are my own, cheers!

Love the desert Valleys in BC, really a cool landscape! Only similar areas are the arid regions of SW Sask and SE Alberta (these are much flatter but have a similar feel).

Awesome pics Metro! It's amazing how fast the landscape can shift from rainforest draped mountains and glacier fed lakes to semi-arid. I love doing that drive for that reason.

Metro, I was in the same area last weekend as well. Maybe we spent some time behind the same camper van (there were many)?

These are already from last September, but few photos from hike to St. Mark's Summit. It's a 11km round-trip with 460 elevation gain. Takes 4-5 hours.

Trail to St. Marks.

They have been improving the first 2km of the trail.

Peek of The Lions.

West Lion

East Lion

Sea to Sky Highway down below.

Hazy Horseshoe Bay.

Ferry traffic

Cypress Mountain ski runs.

Bowen Island in the haze.

Surrounding Howe Sound.

Admiring the view.

Some people are not afraid to sit on the edge...

Hazy weather, but great view!

Gorgeous, Klazu. I love when the hills are so high that the nearest land is so blue.

Since 2008 Peak 2 Peak gondola in Whistler has held three world records and is a thrilling 11 minute ride between two mountain tops. On a sunny day the views are amazing.

Going up Blackcomb mountain.

On top of Blackcomb with sweet views.

Peak 2 Peak station.

Gondola that you will trust your life with.

Last tower before 3 kilometers of nothing!

Valley bottom 436 meters below.

High above the valley.

Finally on the other side.

Three world records.
