How many hamburgers did you eat?

It seems that everything is up to date in Portland.

Nice shots! And that puppy looks adorable! I just want to scoop him (her?) up in my arms.

Always up for some Portland. Great shots! I'm only half-white, but I love it. Anyway, thanks!

You must have walked right past my house in #60. I live across the street in an old victorian. Great set and you covered some distance. Where was #42 taken?

Portland is growing more and more on me. The only two things I don't like is that it seems painfully hipstery and it doesn't come across as very worldly but that will probably continue to change. Great shots!

PS - what's the nightlife like? I've heard it's very limited?

Well you certainly scratched the surface of Portland, GREAT thread, but I feel there's some lack of authenticity. Sort of like the show Portlandia. Funny and resembles Portland, but there's something...missing, that as a native, I feel isn't captured.

Thanks for coming and visiting though! Awesome pictures.

lol I used to read that blog until the articles turned into ads.

And I see you're back on the west coast now... figures you'd be in Portland though ha. It looks very nice albeit somewhat sterile, but I've seen other perspectives on it that would say otherwise. Your people shots are killer as always.

And I was gonna say the same thing as Expat, that's a lot of burgers. Do they not have good burgers in BA? Almost seems like you were stocking up before you had to go back lol.

Also, does this predate your return to the Bay?

It's hard to capture the soul of a city that you're not familiar with unless you're with people who can educate you about it, and even then it's not the same as seeing the soul of the city for yourself after living there long enough. With that being said, this is as good as it gets for a "surface" portrait... focusing on the people gives the thread more depth than the average tourist thread.

first of all, it's really great to see portland in the sun, as it's always been when i have visited. second, yeah, hipsters. if your girlfriend can beat you in arm wrestling you should be sentenced to 2 years of blue collar labor in the rustbelt. it works for me when they are being buffeted by a roaring megacity or a post industrial wreck...it mildly freaks me out that they sort of flavor so many aspects of the city like that. i haven't been to portland in 4 or 5 years, i wonder how the vibe is evolving? that all said, i'd gladly take them all in my city.

Dood, do you realize that the girl in picture 25 and 26 is an ex girlfriend of mine, Nicole Daly, whom I dated when she lived in Philly for many years. Also the girl in picture 31 is Ashley Wolf whom had lived in Philly for all her life until about 2 years ago, who had dated my roomate.

Told you there was some sort of weird Philly-Portland exchange. Seems like a lot of the people you found interesting are from Philly!
