Funniest/Oddest City/Town Names

The old Jack Benny train stop "Cucamonga" gets some votes, as does "Azusa". Tuba City sounds interesting, as does Babb, Montana and Bangor Maine. How did Buffalo get called that? Was it an old buffalo hangout? What about Winnepeg? Altoona? Ypres? Brainerd? And while we're at it, Cincinatti? Los Angeles, my old home town, a "City of Angels"? Love the place, but nothing especially angelic about it compared to other burgs as far as I can see.

Well, Cincinnati is named after Cincinnatus. Vaguely recalling my high school Latin, if his name was second declension, Cincinnati means "of Cincinnatus".

Isn’t the official name of Los Angeles like 30 words long or something?

Fixed

With that in mind they could have at least named the Los Angeles River the Porciúncula River or Rio Porciúncula.

This thread always leads to the same responses, especially the two right above my post. Same stuff over and over.
