^ thanks for the link rrskylar,

well, here's to 2011 guys! New Airport terminal will be awesome. Can't wait to check it out, I know when its opened im just gonna go hang out there with a friend or something.

One thing though...does anyone notice how cramped it feels when you drive there now?? or is it just me..

I think once the old terminal is removed, they should look how they could make it feel less claustrophobic if ya'll know what I mean

Ottawa and Vancouver (okay, so the totem pole rocks my socks) may have competition as far as memorable airports are concerned. It seems we aren't playing around.

OMG! This new terminal just keeps getting better and better!!

I love the LED detail on the skylights. In some way, it feels a bit something out of Star Trek, but in a good way.

Those renderings from past post don't do justice to how the new terminal will look inside. Just Fantastics! I agree I like how the LED form halos with the skylights. I like how open it seems and airy. I cant wait to make my first departure flight somewhere.

I'll be guessing what kind of artwork will be placed in the new terminal. Happy New Year everyone!

I hope I'm not ruining your guess but two of the the major artworks pieces are large glass works by a local artist. They weren't finished the last time i had a tour but their size will be impressive.

http://www.waa.ca/designconcepts

I just realized that if future phases are designed to "bend around" then that congestion concern I had could be alleviated, because of where the "end" of the Airport terminal is, if you follow along the circumferece, it goes behind the current terminal.

However, there would have to be a lot of construction changes for the roads and behind the terminal for airplanes to move + the current terminal demolished.

Once the new terminal is up and running are their plans to demolish the old terminal going to commence right away or are there plans for that site?

I heard they were going to demolish it, and potentially build a new building for the museum.

As 1ajs mentioned, my friends dad is a mechanic there and he was telling me how in how bad shape the current terminal is...he said if you go to where the basement is, the foundation is so messed up it looks like an earthquake hit the airport; he said they plan to demolish it as far as he's heard

It will be demolition of the old building and construction of a new multi-tenant building featuring the Aviation Museum.

another delay

i was told by a friend that works at the airport the terminal might be delayed again till september... and i also heard they are just getting rid of the old terminal and it will become parking space and left untouched for future expansions in the future. and the museum is suppose to be doing its own thing at its current site. the old terminal is old and falling apart it really cant be saved from what im told... well it can be saved but it would of costed more then the new terminal

cant wait till it opens
