Thatcher? I was talking about the
North American cultural attitude and outlook. Is it possible you look at things through the lense of someone born and raised somewhere else?
And regarding "the recession" and "high interest rates," they ended in 1982 and were followed by one the most vigorous and sustained periods of economic growth in North American history. Moreover, Reagan, who is now judged by history to be one of America's greatest presidents (and, by the way, the one who [I]brought an end to the "cold war" by hastening the demise of the Soviet Union), was
re-elected by his people in a historic landslide in 1984.
