This is exactly what I have been hoping for! Dan Gilbert is finally expanding into Windsor from Detroit! Hopefully this is just the beginning!
Up to 150 well paying tech jobs will be a boon for DT, and hopefully there will be more to come!

Not sure what part of the riverfront you're referring to but in certain areas trees have purposely not been planted in order to not block the view of the river and Detroit's skyline. The riverfront from about Ferry Street west to the Ambassador Bridge is full of trees.

Bravo Windsor.
Median trees are notoriously hard to care for due to the road salt spray and the drainage issues. It's a given that a few of them are going to die and replacement ones can only be planted at certain times of the year. It is totally unfair to blame the city for that. Overall, they have done a great job beautifying the medians along Wyandotte, Dougall, Howard, etc. Lauzon Parkway is next on the list. At least the city cares enough to do things like that. The other cities in our region (London, Kitchener, Hamilton) certainly don't.

I understand that but it almost appears as though they have no maintenance plan. So it just goes back to looking shitty, so what’s the point?

The whole idea with the median enhancements was to eliminate the need for maintenance. That's why turf and fake mulch is used. They used to have to cut the ragged grass on the medians and trim the unsightly weeds on a regular cycle but that has been eliminated. The only maintenance necessary now is to replace dead trees but they might not even be aware of individual trees that have died...just call or e-mail 311 to report the location. I'll take a few scattered dead trees over the weed infested medians you see in other cities.

Great news! I'd love to see more businesses opening locations in downtown Detroit and downtown Windsor like this.

Has there been any news recently about the Glenkash apartment building?

Oh, ok, no, nothing more has come out yet. Hoping to see a rendering soon though.

Some news articles today in both the Windsor Star and CBC Windsor state that the PC government has axed the $20 million funding to possibly relocate the law school downtown. Secondly Edwin says they may close their offices downtown and move them out to Rhodes drive.

This just kind of validates my theory that for every good change there’s a bad change that offsets it. We always end up with a zero sum and it ends up feeling like a shell game, or shuffling game instead of any real tangible growth.

Any idea when the old Raddison Hotel will get renovated,it's been almost a year since it was first announced.

Who knows now that Farhi is giddy about the former GM lands.

Looks like they’ve been gutting the inside of the building, there have been big waste bins full of debris outside of the hotel for a while now.

It's being completely gutted right now. Will be redone and likely re-opening as a DoubleTree Hotel. Even though Farhi took forever to do something with his lands, I guess we should be happy since this is more than he's doing in London.
