When does the Queen have any effect on us, besides watching her on the news and seeing her on our money? The only thing she does is give royal assent to laws, but that is really done through the Governor General in her stead.
The British royalty hasn't had any relevance in Canada since the constitution was adopted in the 1980s, and play no active role. As someone under 30, I can speak for my generation and say that most don't really care strongly about the Queen one way or the other. Like gay marriage or pot use, it's something that has changed massively with the rise of the new generation.
Even if it isn't relevant to today it is our history and heritage. I personally dislike the name Queensway because that's the name of the bottleneck of a highway through Ottawa.

I can agree with that reasoning. But if we're doing that, then I would propose Kingsway to set it apart from other Queen-related places. However, I don't like the sound of either.
I think the Greenway is both symbolic of Saskatchewan and the "Passion / Spirit" we have here. Even if it you are not a Rider Fan it can have other meanings as well. Also symbolizes the "never see a red light again" for trucks Which I might add be funny to put on a sign << "Greenway" ^^ "Redway" haha
Green way is awesome , on a side note Regina will always be the Queen City fact is fact whether one engages in
Royal activities or not , I believe in her long reign there has been little scandal , the Queen means royal, elegant , it takes on a historical role , any meaningful name is better than bypass , which sounds like heart surgery

Sorry, what does Thunderchild have to do with Regina?

Chief Thunderchild was a native of the Saskatchewan Plains where he fought, hunted, lived and sometimes nearly starved. He lived on the North Saskatchewan during the last days of the Plains Cree freedom, resisting the treaties with the Canadian government as long as he could, eventually moving to a reserve.
The east side intersection with the #1 is at tower road, which makes me think of a medieval city with stone work fortifications.
I would like to see the new bypass be called "The Wall" and I would like to see the interchanges be referred to as "Towers" like "The East Tower", "Vic Tower", "Toon Tower" for highway 11 "The 9th Tower" where it will reach 9th avenue north. Hence a future conversation may sound like "Get on the wall at Toon Tower, go all the way around and get off at Albert tower and head north, it will be on your right."
Here are some of my reasons for naming the bypass 'The Wall":
1) The new road will act as a significant barrier to all forms of ground transportation crossing its length; hence it will act like a wall.
2) Many old cities have ring roads at the location of discontinued fortifications,(like Paris) thus possibly confusing tourists into thinking Regina has an interesting history.
3) The Premier is named Wall.
4) ... I am sure I will think of more as soon as i post.
