Unico Makes Third Salt Lake City Buy
The acquisition, which also includes an adjoining 1.8-acre surface parking lot, adds City Centre I’s 229,600 square feet to Unico’s portfolio in Downtown Salt Lake City, which now totals more than 1 million square feet of space.

Any chance of some context? Are they a company that's known to produce mixed-use or high rise projects? What are the other 2 properties they own?

They own the Boston Building and Tower 250 (250 East 200 South).

The largest project that I can see that they built is a recent project in the Portland Pearl District, the NV Apartments & Lofts. It is a 26 story mixed use project with 24 stories of apartments.

Hopefully there are or will be plans in the works to replace the parking lot along State Street with either 1 or 2 towers.

This was actually beneficial for our company. Be were awarded one of the bids (non-construction related). So I welcome them.

Thanks, this sounds promising then! It sounds like more and more out-of-state investors with big pockets are making investments in downtown SLC. Now let's just hope it doesn't take 5-10 years to hear anything about the site.

Unico does a lot of property management as well. They could be buying up these places without any intention of redeveloping them.

That two-acre lot they just bought (City Centre parking lot) is also one of the best tower sites in the city. Interesting to see Deloy Hansen/Wasatch cashing in a great development chip. Maybe a JV tower is cooking??

Oh ya, I totally get what you are saying. Because when I want to comment on someone else's comment incoherently, I use metaphors's that make complete nonsense.

LOL, my joke failed. I was trying to imply you suggesting the purchase might not be for developing that lot as basically a curse word. Wasn’t an insult.

He might have just had a rough week. He’s usually more level headed, but he also responded similarly about posting renderings.

Orlando...we got you bro. :-)

My bad guys. I got it now. Been sick for a while. Maybe that had something to do with it and work stress. I thought it was a cryptic snarky comment towards me, but I get it now.

Hey Always Sunny. Your joke didn't fail. I got a good chuckle out of it, and that's even though it was very early in the morning. I'm sure a few others did too.

LOL, good to know. I know jokes aren’t really much of a thing on this forum.

Tower 8?

Anyone have any news on groundbreaking for Tower 8? I really thought we would have heard something by now.

Last anyone has heard is that they were doing some redesigning on the tower with plans to go through conditional building and design review (CBDR).

The design shown previously had a height of 370' and wouldn't require CBDR approval to be built.

There is some possibility that the final height may depend on updates to tariffs on Steel and Aluminum. With the tight commercial market downtown, I would expect that we should hear an update on it soon.
