amazing stuff, living in Montreal really can be a treat and those arials capture how graceful and well developed everything can seem despite past misteps and negelct. I think these pics should cement the city's reputation as one of North America's finest!

What an amazing-looking city. I always thought I'd love it there if I were to ever visit. Could one get by without knowing French?

Certainly yes! Montreal is, first of all, a bilingual city.

awesome pic you found elsonic (except for the wing tip on the top left corner!), the others are great as well.

MTL is a great city to visit; almost everyone there is bilingual french/english.

True that there aren't tons of surface parking lots, but there are still quite a few. Luckily, many of them have been developed over the past 5 years. THere are less and less surface parking lots downtown!

by the way, everyone of those pictures was great. good job boys!

i dont think 3.7 million is small for a metro population. I mean compared to NYC or L.A yes but those are just huge...and the photos ur seeing here is just the city of Montreal (island) actually just half of the island but on the entire island there is 1.9 million People.

Great shots. It's interesting how you can clearly make out the Mount Royal Neighbourhood north of the mountain. Very different from the surrounding areas.

it's a great example of how imaginary municipal boundaries have a real effect on the cityscape. one side of l'acadie boulevard is lined by five-storey walkups and decrepit 20-storey apartment towers; the other side is lined by a fence and, beyond that, single-family homes with BMWs parked in the driveways.

and that's just the superficial difference. park extension is one of canada's poorest neighbourhoods, 80% nonwhite, 60% immigrant; the town of mount royal is one of canada's richest towns, 15% nonwhite, 30% immigrant.
