Walkway shown during the 1-2 hours of sunlight it will get per day, otherwise will be dark.

It faces directly east-west so it'll get more than that, no? It's not like it only has north exposure.

a bit more in core summer months, but even right now, it would be dark. Think 103 avenue between 100/101street

Or most avenues that are centrally located...see 102 Ave, Jasper...

'The cost has gone up substantially': What's behind the pause on south Edmonton hospital

The clock’s ticking on the long-promised south Edmonton hospital — and it’s an expensive clock. “If we are going to build a new Edmonton hospital, it's only going to get more expensive and the sacrifices that patients are going to make over the next several years are just going to get worse and worse"

Boy it sure would have been fantastic if Servus had a downtown office tower as their headquarters. IIRC they were encouraged to move to the south side by the head of the Downtown Business Association at the time.

^Jim certainly would not have suggested that.

As someone who worked on their HQ project, they had considered Downtown, Whyte (where they had two buildings) and where they ended up (likely others too).

Their CEO was very clear that after the merger of the 3 CUs and given that a very significant portion of their clientele are rural, they purposefully did not want to be 'one of those Downtown banks'. It was a strategic move to mirror their non-traditional institution and positioning.

Add in a vacant DELL building that met their needs then and for the future (including room for a second building), ease of access and lots of free parking for workers and clients and bob's your uncle.

I hope that the next CEO is way more bullish on a downtown tower HQ.

As much as it's a nice wet dream, it's not their business model or clientele.

You realize that most of the wealthy neighbourhoods in the region are located in mature communities - Glenora, Laurier Hts, Crestwood, Patricia Heights, Rio Terrace, Belgravia, Westbrook, Windsor Park.

Do you think they would change their business model if this was Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver etc?

Servus made this decision not that long ago. Not sure why we're even talking about this. Might as well bring up PCL and why they decided to stay on 99 Street. F*ck...
