Portland Development Map

I'm not sure if there's any interest in something like this, but I threw this together today just to help me keep track of things. It's a Google map with pins for recent projects in various stages. You can click the pins for a bit more info. Generally includes a picture and a link or two as well as floors and height if I could find it. I'm not opposed to adding or changing the information for the projects.

Also note that this is clearly not all-inclusive; I just added most of the first page of the downtown forum and a few others. I'd like to include infill and other projects as I have time. Also note that everything might not be correct. I used the forums and emporis for data, but guessed on a lot of completion dates.

I'm happy to make any additions or changes. Also if there's no interest in this don't mind me.

You can click the big picture or this link to view.

Anyone that wants to collaborate get me your email address one way or another. Private Message or in this thread is fine.

I'll probably use a tiny bit of discretion in letting people contribute. But all the familiar names I will certainly let on.

We haven't seen something like this since Dougall did a picture associated with the physical location of projects a very long time ago. This will be a great resource to have. Thanks.

It's not too useful yet. There's only 22 projects on there. But I think it has the potential to be pretty useful, so I'm glad people are interested.

I moved the thread out of the general discussion forum, thats for more off topic stuff. I think this is pretty relevant to portland construction. If we can constantly update this I might pin it at the top, it's a good resource.

I'll work on adding in the great list that CouvScott posted over the next few days.

I also think it has a lot of potential, it just hinges on remaining updated.

Dude, you're famous!

Don't slow traffic when you can do your gawking of Portland development on Google
Posted by Joseph Rose, The Oregonian December 11, 2008 08:00AM

Often, the best gifts, as they say, are free.

And that's exactly the cost of the latest entry in Hard Drive's holiday gift-giving countdown. It's for all the neck-stretchers out there who see new rebar, a towering crane or a big hole along the commute and can't help tapping the brakes as they ask themselves, "What in the good name of Preston Tucker is that?" We give you this fancy-dancy interactive construction map that some enterprising and giving soul named "nobody" posted on the SkyscraperPage Forum.

And so far it costs zilch. Nada.

The ever-growing map of Portland development is apparently just getting started. According to the Portland Spaces site, which posted the map on its Burnside Blog: "Expect it to grow exponentially by 100+ projects in the coming days, as the SSP development-trackers activate it as a living, collaborative map of once and future Portland."

Ooh, sounds positively helpful. And very cool. My neck already feels better.

Seriously! I plan on working on it this weekend, and actually have some other grandiose plans I'll speak of in a month or two.

Okay so I lied when I said "this weekend" nearly a month ago. Getting back into it today.

Looking at the tremendous horrifying list that CouvScott posted, would you all like to see all of those buildings, or just the construction and recently completed (2007 and beyond) projects?
