home of scott baio. Part 1 --NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ--

Hope all is well. Haven't posted a thread in a while and though I did say my next would be Philly, I only had this available. Not to worry though cause that's coming soon .

Some may have seen my first NB thread a while back but I can assure you that this is much more in depth. I live like 10mins away from this city so I get a lot of exposure whether its eating or hanging out. Its fine for both. And though its pop. is only 55k the city does have its urban nooks. Hope you all enjoy.

Great photography! New Brunswick looks like a bigger city than it is... it also has some real gems in it. Thanks for showing more of NJ

This is a great "insider" view of New Brunswick.

I'm on board 110% with this somewhat "personal" feeling view of the city as you have captured it...absolutely gorgeous. I'll always think of a music scene I admired from one thousand miles away a million miles ago in New Brunswick. I used to wonder what it was like - I always pictured a cliffs and a river and big town grid -- I think in many ways I was close.

What is the story of the fox and dead bird?

The city is only on a grid in one area, other than that its kinda haphazard. Your right about the cliff part though, but the downtown is not on it. When your driving on rt 18 you will see a huge wall of exposed rock that makes up the cliff. Its looks really cool, in fact pic #2 is shot from up there. And in regards to the music scene...I miss it . I haven't been to a basement show or any show in NB in a while, with the exception for my friends hip hop performances at the court tavern and old bay. Back in the day though I felt as if there was one every week. I would like to say the punk/rock scene here is pretty good, but like i said I haven't been to a show in some time. When I did though people got wild. It was great.

That fox was brave! One day at sundown I was cruising along on my bike when I saw a fox dragging something. I literally walked right up to it and noticed it was a goose carcass. That fox didn't even get scared, it was not abandoning his meal. Once I a took the shot the fox ran off, but two seconds later came back for his goose.

Great thread. New Brunswick is a cool town. It's kind of freaky how fast the trains rip through the center of town on that embankment sometimes.

I used to go to punk/hardcore shows in NB in the late-90's. It was a very cool scene for a city of it's size. Unfortunately a key venue, the Melody Bar, was razed for a lame hospital parking lot.

ifeeldope - search the forum for threads by a forumer named Jibba. he used to post some excellent Chicago sets a few years back, and your nocturnal style reminds me of his a bit.
