I meant relatively to other years. If I'm not mistaken, SF was growing even faster in comparison.

True but keep in mind that SF only has 8.751 million people and LA has 18.677 million people. In order to surpass LA, the per capita GDP in SF needs to be $140,000 which iwould be extraordinary.

Otoh the SJ Metro is at $127,000 per capita and SF Metro just surpassed $100,000 per capita last year so who knows?

I know. San Francisco boom, after the stagnation in the mid-2000's, is well documented as Los Angeles decline since then. What's new is this small LA revival, keeping SF on check.

Let's see how that will play in the future.
