Inline baggage screening at Calicut terminal

CALICUT: The Calicut International Airport will soon have the first inline baggage screening system in India that would allow integration of screening machines, including explosives detection systems (EDS), with the airport’s baggage conveyor system.
Considered one of the biggest security upgrades in civil aviation since 9/11, will scan the baggage many times faster than the current system, according to the airport director R Veeraswami.
The machine fixed to the system will clear more than 70% of the checked-in baggage, gliding along the conveyor, without any manual intervention while the the baggage rejected by the first machine will be manually screened in another machine integrated to the conveyor.
If the baggage fails the second screening, it will be taken off the conveyor and the passenger called in. The baggage will then be physically examined in the presence of the passenger.
“The new system will facilitate more efficient baggage security screening and reduce passenger congestion at the entry point or check-in area by relocating the screening machines to non-public areas. It will also enhance overall safety and security of airline travel” he said.

M/s Yasoram Builders, Kochi, have designed a Marine Sky City cum Shopping complex along the Kozhikode beach. Though flyovers are common in the city, this type of modern and world - class Marine Sky city, apparently is a new concept that is sure to enhance the ever-growing trade and industry. The special features of this Marine Sky City are that it contains multi-storeyed shopping complexes, commercial hubs, residential buildings, entertainment and amusement centers, health clubs and health clinics, restaurants, hotels etc.

The Marine Sky City is designed to provide 8 meter wide road for two-way traffic. 4 meter wide car parking space near the shopping malls and 2 meter footpath for pedestrians in front of the shopping malls. The shopping complexes will be three storeyed and 8.4meter wide. The Marine Sky City will also provide 3meter wide walkway facing the sea for the public who can enjoy the enchanting beauty of the sea. All the buildings are planned to face the sea. The existing roads beneath the flyover will be retained as such and these will be connected to Marine Sky City via steps.
Marine Sky City project proposed along the Kozhikode beach, will be the first of its kind not only in India but perhaps, in the world. This truly viable project is the brainchild of Mr. A.R.S. Vadhyar, Managing Partner and Chief Engineering Consultant, Yasoram Builders, Kochi who has earned a reputation in building constructions over a period of 39 years. The Sky City project connecting Cochin Shipyard to Edappally by-pass also designed by Mr. Vadhyar has been accepted in principle by the State Government and is in progress.

Dream city has already started? Sanju, do u have more details on it?
And the mini bypass means from Baby memorial to Eranhipalam? Actually tat stretch can b developed with high rises in line. and the road frontage can b highlighted with dividers and street lights. should also b made 4 lane. it would look cool like any other metro. Only if the place is utilised.

Marina mall is in a conjusted place. I was thinking of where it was coming up, and now when i c the pic, i feel it cant b a showpiece in calicut city. I think the city should expand and move out of the mavoor road area. Out towards Kannur road, Medical college, Kakkodi, and Kallai. Theres hardly any space around the core city now, and if these major malls come up in between the existing buildings there wont b a good view of it.
Where r mega mall and Space mall coming up?

dear hsnse
first how to up load pics, just click this link www.tinypic.com u will see a tab named 'browse' click tat tab and browse the particular pic u wanna upload and open it and just click upload, after some time it will get uploaded and u can copy paste the provided link to ssc or sspage. remember it will be tagged with double [IMG] tages on both sides, again any doubts plz let me know

regarding the minibypass developments-hsnse ur idea is good but it is not possible in a place like minibypass road due to geographical reasons, its a natural wet land and a mangroove forest covered area...fillin tat area and buildin huge skyscrapers is hazardous to the balanced ecosystem, already mavoor road is flooded during monsoon,so if u fill tat area also to build skyscrapers then its gonna be a water way in the month of june and july.so i am against any building activity in tat area.

regardin deamcity project the work already started and it is named sarovaram its an ecotourism project, and they r building it wid out disturbing the ecosystem..corporation hav plans to develop minibypass road to a 4 line motorway with good footpaths and street lamps..hope it will comence the work on timw.
