With sadness and respect and gratitude to Constable Woodall of the Edmonton Police Service and to his comrades across all services and borders... without security of person there is no freedom and with our freedom we salute you.

I don't care what anyone says; I love CN Tower and I don't want it to ever change.

Ditto that. The word iconic comes to mind. Much as I like all the DT development, rue the day my sight-line to that CN logo was obscured by, uh, progress.

true enough for the tower itself. it's always been one of my favourites as well.

the street and urban edges, the lobby and the parkade on the other hand... those pieces all need a substantial reinvestment and an awful lot of tlc that has been missing for a long time.

I agree the tower looks great but the podium needs some work. Wife works in the building and I love the view from up there.

Expect to see a crane on site the next few weeks. They are replacing the cooling and heating coils soon. Apparently there are leaks in the cooling coil that they can't seal anymore.

I was on my way back downtown from Goldbar WWTP today and while I was driving in I had a good look at the down town core. From that side of the river the new towers will be incredible to see over all they existing towers. The colour of the screening on Edgewater had me thinking about the possibility of a dark green coloured tower in the future.

As much as I hate the smoke, especially with asthma, it does add a cool gothic element to the skyline... Great pics!

^ The Ents are more just sculpted faces placed here and there. But man, that would be cool if someone sculpted a life-sized Ent!

The Hobbit hole is really well done, though, and worth the visit on its own. I love the Muttart, they do some pretty fantastic stuff.

I had no idea it was pronounced MUTT TART.

This has to be an April Fools or something.... I always said Meew-tart, and was corrected 2 years ago a couple times to say Moo-tart. Damn.
