Around Detroit

Just a random collection of photos I've taken around the city the past six months or so. Looking back on these I noticed there's a speck of something on my lens that's appearing in some of the photos; sorry about that! Enjoy!

Nice mix of photos. I really love the alley shots, especially the one in Eastern Market...

...and from The Belt.

Can't figure out for the life of me where you got that last shot, though. Somewhere northeast of town?

Fantastic photos. Best Detroit thread in a while. You also captured some street activity that always seems to be missing in Detroit posts.

You can tell from the alignment of the buildings that it is along the Woodward corridor. In this case Royal Oak.

Thanks for these photos! I've been living right outside Metro Detroit for almost 9 years but never cared to explore Detroit until July 2018. I instantly fell in love with the city during that 2-day visit and I have revisited two more times already.

Just last night my colleague and I were saying that Detroit had almost nothing worth seeing back in 2010, but a couple years ago an amazing revival began: new condos, the Q Line streetcar, a new restaurant almost every week, transformation of the riverfront (which started a while ago but is still going on), Dan Gilbert's projects, the resurrection of the Michigan Central Station by Ford, etc. etc. Heck, even the old Chinatown's kiosk has been renovated!

You're right. More specifically, I took that from the top of the new city-owned parking garage on Washington, Second and Center.

There is still so much history in Detroit and its future looks promising too, judging from these photos. They really capture a side of Detroit I've never seen. I hope to visit the city one day.

You really captured the everyday living city. Detroit is not short on character, that’s for sure.
